Abstract: This research is based on the conception that the city is an active element in human development, functioning as an open, dynamic, and powerful curriculum. The dissertation investigates how the Municipal Education Network of Florianópolis (RME) conceives the curricular dimension of the city and how this conception is expressed in its actions and educational policies. This qualitative study combines document analysis, supported by Thematic Analysis, and semi-structured interviews, which provide context and insights into institutional dynamics. The theoretical framework articulates contributions from Geography and curriculum studies, understanding the city both in its materiality and in its subjective and discursive dimensions. The findings indicate that, although there are initiatives seeking to articulate the city with the curriculum and address the demands of situated municipal education, there remain operational and theoretical limitations, exacerbated by external pressures that encourage a standardized teaching model aligned with market logics. The research highlights the importance of recognizing the city as a formative space and of institutionalizing this perspective within the curriculum of municipal education systems, while pointing out the challenges of integrating local specificities into the construction of broad and continuous education. In this sense, it argues that the interaction between city and school can help transform the school into a space more closely connected to the realities and experiences of students.
