A invisibilidade dos cientistas negros e o eletromagnetismo como base no desenvolvimento humano e social

Abstract

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo contextualizar e discutir, partindo da apresentação do filme ?O menino que descobriu o vento? a invisibilidade histórica dos cientistas negros nas ciências da natureza, buscando compreender como a ausência dessas referências no currículo influencia a formação científica e social dos estudantes. A ciência que deveria ser neutra, foi construída dentro de contextos sociais excludentes, de maneira que estudantes negros não encontram representatividade no contexto do currículo escolar e nos livros didáticos, pois observa-se que materiais didáticos e currículos raramente mencionam as contribuições de cientistas negros. Assim devemos refletir sobre a importância de uma educação científica antirracista, que reconheça as contribuições de diferentes sujeitos sociais e valorize a diversidade epistêmica, compreendendo a ciência como ferramenta de emancipação social, equidade e desenvolvimento humano. Dentro deste cenário, se demonstrará a relevância do Eletromagnetismo tendo em conta que o eletromagnetismo está presente na geração e transmissão de energia, o que faz com que percebamos que a física está presente em nosso cotidiano, desnudando a ideia de que está apenas em livros teóricos e cálculos extraordinários.

Abstract: This dissertation aims to contextualize and discuss, based on the film \"The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind,\" the historical invisibility of Black scientists in the natural sciences, seeking to understand how the absence of these references in the curriculum influences the scientific and social development of students. Science, which should be neutral, was constructed within exclusionary social contexts, resulting in Black students lacking representation in school curricula and textbooks. Teaching materials and curricula rarely mention the contributions of Black scientists. Therefore, we must reflect on the importance of an anti-racist science education that recognizes the contributions of diverse social subjects and values epistemic diversity, understanding science as a tool for social emancipation, equity, and human development. Within this context, the relevance of electromagnetism will be demonstrated, considering that electromagnetism is present in the generation and transmission of energy. This allows us to realize that physics is present in our daily lives, exposing the idea that it exists only in theoretical textbooks and extraordinary calculations.
