Painéis de memórias no pós-abolição: uma biografia do intelectual Ildefonso Juvenal da Silva

Abstract

A tese Painéis de memórias no pós-abolição: uma biografia do intelectual Ildefonso Juvenal da Silva, objetiva compreender os aspectos da constituição da intelectualidade negra no Sul do país, no pós-abolição, por meio da trajetória de vida de Ildefonso Juvenal da Silva (1894-1965). Dialogando com a teoria da Micro-história, gênero biográfico, cuja metodologia de pesquisa transversaliza com o método progressivo-regressivo sartreano, a pesquisa abrange revisão bibliográfica e documentação formal de arquivos públicos, assim como imersão em fontes díspares - incorporadas nos estudos sartreanos -, que compõem as dimensões do conhecer e que se fazem presentes e se atualizam em imagens, poemas, diários, retratos, pinturas, narrativas memorialísticas, escritas de si, anotações esparsas, cartas, cartões, sonhos noturnos e diurnos, receitas, sabores, texturas, entre outros registros reunidos há mais de vinte anos com o intuito de construir uma experiência com o objeto em suas múltiplas dimensões. Percepção sensível, intuição, imaginação histórica permeiam as trilhas metodológicas da tese, compondo uma perspectiva ampliada de conhecimento, uma epistemologia que acolhe o sensível, o simbólico, o vivido e o sonhado como formas legítimas de saber e caracterizam um gesto de deslocamento das fronteiras entre razão e afeto, entre prova e memória, entre ciência e oralidade, na tentativa de pensar o mundo ?a partir dos saberes que não foram autorizados a falar?. Nessa direção, e mobilizando conceitos de (auto)biografia, memória e projeto e desejo de ser sartreano, a tese encontra potência para transitar por lugares e tempos de ausência-presença da intelectualidade negra no Sul no Brasil, expressa na biografia de Ildefonso Juvenal. As possibilidades e limitações sociais dispostas ao biografado ao longo da sua formação e trajetória intelectual, expõe estratégias estabelecidas por homens e mulheres negras de modo coletivo ou individual na ânsia de cidadania, educação e superação dos preconceitos raciais. De outro modo, impõe a justeza da presença, da composição e da recomposição permanente e restauradora da experiência singular na transformação da existência.

Abstract: The thesis Panels of memories in the post-abolition: a biography of the intellectual Ildefonso Juvenal da Silva, aims to understand the aspects of the constitution of black intelligentsia in the south of the country, in the post-abolition, through the life trajectory of Ildefonso Juvenal da Silva (1894-1965). Dialoguing with the theory of Micro-history, biographical genre, whose research methodology transverses with the sartrean progressive-regressive method, the research covers bibliographic review and formal documentation of public archives, as well as immersion in disparate sources - incorporated in the Sartrean studies -, which make up the dimensions of knowledge and that are present and updated in images, poems, diaries, portraits, paintings, memorialistic narratives, self-writings, sparse notes, letters, cards, night and day dreams, recipes, flavors, textures, among other records gathered for more than twenty years in order to build an experience with the object in its multiple dimensions. Sensitive perception, intuition, historical imagination permeate the methodological tracks of the thesis, composing an expanded perspective of knowledge, an epistemology that welcomes the the symbolic, the lived and the dreamed as legitimate forms of knowing and characterize a gesture of displacement of the boundaries between reason and affection, between proof and memory, between science and orality, in an attempt to think the world ?from the knowledges that were not allowed to speak?. In this direction, and mobilising concepts of (auto)biography, memory and design and desire to be sartrean, the thesis finds power to transit through places and times of absence-presence of black intelligentsia in the South of Brazil, expressed in the biography of Ildefonso Juvenal. The possibilities and social limitations available to the biographer throughout his training and intellectual trajectory, exposes strategies established by black men and women collectively or individually in the craving for citizenship, education and overcoming racial prejudices. In another way, it imposes the justeza of the presence, composition and permanent and restorative recomposition of the singular experience in the transformation of existence.
