Abstract: |
As a consequence of the historic and intense globalization process, the accelerated degradation of the natural environment is noticeable. Thus, discussions related to environmental issues arise, looking for ways to mitigate the impacts caused by the unbridled use of natural resources, introducing the concept of sustainable development, in addition to the emergence of certifications that promote this concept. This study aims to carry out an analysis of the characteristics of a building located in Porto Alegre/RS certified as Platinum by the LEED Seal. Thus, through a descriptive bibliographic search, sought to highlight the benefits of applying the concept of sustainability in projects, both for users and for the environment. Thus, the indicators provided in the LEED certification were studied, observing the different spheres of evaluation and their respective approaches. However, it is concluded that, by complying with the certification indicators, there are direct benefits to the occupants of the built environment.
