Da histeria à fibromialgia: um estudo sobre os tensionamentos discursivos na constituição da subjetividade de mulheres fibromiálgicas

Abstract

Esta tese aborda o sofrimento corpóreo e psíquico nomeado por Fibromialgia, que acomete predominantemente mulheres na atualidade, a partir da investigação dos modos com que os discursos da/sobre a síndrome revelam as tensões entre as demandas sociais de gênero e a construção das subjetividades das mulheres afetadas. Em se tratando de uma manifestação que muito tem a dizer sobre as expectativas sociais relacionadas a determinado exercício de feminilidade, promove-se a interlocução entre a análise do discurso foucaultiana, a Psicanálise e a teoria butleriana, incorporando abordagens psicanalíticas contemporâneas críticas às concepções binárias e falocêntricas da subjetividade, em diálogo com contribuições da antropologia e dos estudos de gênero. Este trabalho visa depreender interpretativamente as formas de subjetivação ? muitas vezes marcadas inconscientemente por estratégias de resistência que se inscrevem no corpo ? relacionadas à Fibromialgia ao considerar os modos de agenciamento discursivo. A pesquisa problematiza os discursos vigentes sobre a síndrome e as possibilidades de resistência e/ou apropriação desses mesmos discursos que, por vezes, produzem um movimento identitário ambíguo, o qual, embora conduza a um reconhecimento para o sofrimento, pode operar para deslegitimar as narrativas das mulheres fibromiálgicas ao perpetuar a normatividade e regulação dos corpos e das subjetividades femininas. O diagnóstico, nesse caso, se apresenta com uma dupla face: tanto como uma estratégia de controle quanto como uma forma de reconhecimento social. Dada a prevalência de tal condição em mulheres, faz-se necessário considerar as demandas de feminilidade contemporâneas que as atravessam, bem como as discursividades sobre os seus corpos, que lhes impõem determinada performatividade de gênero e conferem-lhes a característica essencialista de predispostos fisiologicamente à dor e ao adoecimento ? processos que se inscreveram, historicamente, na materialidade corpórea do feminino, pelo significante da Histeria. Trata-se, nesse caso, da histerização, uma das maneiras pelas quais o corpo da mulher foi analisado como integralmente saturado de sexualidade e instituído sob o efeito de uma patologia que lhe seria intrínseca, a partir de discursos que se atualizam para produzir corpos dóceis e úteis à manutenção da estrutura em que estão inseridos. A análise de materialidades enunciativas se dá pela proposição de uma abordagem que comporta a relação entre gênero, sintoma e discurso a partir de um ponto de vista arquegenealógico, em diálogo com uma prática de escrita de si, a fim de analisar interpretativamente os modos como o sofrimento indexicaliza os dispositivos atuantes na produção da subjetividade das pacientes diagnosticadas com Fibromialgia. Subjacente a esse processo, a caracterização dos discursos acerca da síndrome também se faz relevante para que se compreendam as formações discursivas em que estão inseridas as mulheres fibromiálgicas, as quais se posicionam enredadas na trama das relações de poder e nos tensionamentos que se estabelecem entre o questionamento dos discursos homologados e a elaboração dos cuidados de si possíveis, os quais se dão a ver nas narrativas das pacientes, de cujo conhecimento pode decorrer a deslegitimação do presente.

Abstract: This doctoral thesis addresses the corporeal and psychic suffering designated as Fibromyalgia, which predominantly affects women today, by investigating the ways in which discourses of/about the syndrome reveal tensions between social gender demands and the construction of the subjectivities of affected women. As a manifestation that has much to say about social expectations related to particular enactments of femininity, the study promotes a dialogue among Foucauldian discourse analysis, Psychoanalysis, and Butlerian theory, incorporating contemporary psychoanalytic approaches that critique binary and phallocentric conceptions of subjectivity, in conversation with contributions from anthropology and gender studies. This work aims to interpretively apprehend forms of subjectivation?often unconsciously marked by strategies of resistance inscribed in the body?related to Fibromyalgia, by considering modes of discursive agency. The research problematizes prevailing discourses on the syndrome and the possibilities of resistance to and/or appropriation of these same discourses, which sometimes produce an ambiguous identity movement that, while enabling recognition of suffering, may also operate to delegitimize the narratives of women with fibromyalgia by perpetuating the normativity and regulation of female bodies and subjectivities. In this context, diagnosis presents a double face: both as a strategy of control and as a form of social recognition. Given the prevalence of this condition among women, it is necessary to consider the demands of contemporary femininity that traverse them, as well as the discursivities surrounding their bodies, which impose a certain gender performativity and attribute to them the essentialist characteristic of being physiologically predisposed to pain and illness?processes that have historically been inscribed in the corporeal materiality of the feminine through the signifier of Hysteria. In this sense, hysterization is understood as one of the ways in which the female body has been analyzed as fully saturated with sexuality and constituted under the effect of a pathology deemed intrinsic to it, through discourses that are continually updated to produce docile bodies useful for maintaining the structures in which they are embedded. The analysis of enunciative materialities is carried out through the proposition of an approach that encompasses the relationship among gender, symptom, and discourse from an archaeogenealogical perspective, in dialogue with a practice of writing the self, in order to interpretively analyze the ways in which suffering indexicalizes the dispositifs active in the production of the subjectivity of patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Underlying this process, the characterization of discourses about the syndrome is also crucial for understanding the discursive formations within which women with fibromyalgia are situated, as they position themselves entangled in networks of power relations and in the tensions established between questioning sanctioned discourses and elaborating possible practices of care of the self, which become visible in patients? narratives and through whose knowledge the delegitimation of the present may emerge.
