Para uma gramática sistêmico-funcional da Libras: perfil metafuncional da oração

Abstract

Esta dissertação propõe um esboço descritivo da léxico-gramática da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) no nível da oração, a partir da perspectiva da Linguística SistêmicoFuncional, com foco no perfil metafuncional da oração ? textual, interpessoal e experiencial ? em entrevistas produzidas no contexto do Corpus de Libras. O estudo adota como base empírica os textos das entrevistas de Rimar Ramalho Segala e Marisa Dias Lima, ambos surdos e filhos de pais surdos, em entrevistas conduzidas por Juliana Tasca Lohn, também surda. A pesquisa caracteriza-se como um estudo básico, de objetivo descritivo-analítico, abordagem qualitativa, dados não experimentais, autenticidade elicitada, ordem de dados primária, análise manual e direcionalmente analítica. A partir dos dados analisados, foram mapeados sistemas léxico-gramaticais relacionados às três metafunções da Libras. Na metafunção textual, descrevem-se padrões de organização da mensagem associados aos sistemas de SELEÇÃO TEMÁTICA, MÚLTIPLOS TEMAS, REALCE TEMÁTICO e FOCO ORACIONAL. No sistema de SELEÇÃO TEMÁTICA, observou-se a seleção de uma das opções: Tema marcado ou Tema não marcado; no sistema de MÚLTIPLOS TEMAS, foram consideradas as opções simultâneas de presença ou ausência de Tema textual e de Tema interpessoal; no sistema de REALCE TEMÁTICO, observou-se a presença ou ausência de realce em construção oracional; e, no sistema de FOCO ORACIONAL, descreveu-se a presença ou ausência de foco oracional. Na metafunção interpessoal, descrevem-se padrões de organização da troca entre sinalizantes associados aos sistemas de MODO, POLARIDADE e MODALIDADE. No sistema de MODO, observou-se a seleção de uma das opções: modo imperativo ou modo indicativo; no interior do indicativo, a seleção de uma das opções: modo declarativo ou modo interrogativo; e, no interior do interrogativo, a seleção de uma das opções: modo interrogativo polar ou modo interrogativo elemental. No sistema de POLARIDADE, descreveu-se a seleção de uma das opções: polaridade positiva ou polaridade negativa. No sistema de MODALIDADE, observou-se a seleção entre a presença ou a ausência de modalidade e, nos casos em que há modalidade, entre modalização e modulação. Na metafunção experiencial, descrevem-se padrões de organização da representação da experiência associados aos sistemas de TIPOS DE PROCESSO e CIRCUNSTÂNCIA. No sistema de TIPOS DE PROCESSO, observou-se a seleção de uma das opções: processo material, processo mental, processo relacional, processo verbal, processo comportamental ou processo existencial; nos casos de processo relacional, observou-se a seleção de uma das opções: processo atributivo ou processo identificativo. No sistema de CIRCUNSTÂNCIA, descreveu-se a seleção entre a presença ou a ausência de circunstância e, nos casos em que há circunstância, a seleção, simultânea ou não, de circunstâncias de EXTENSÃO, LOCALIZAÇÃO, MODO, ACOMPANHAMENTO e CAUSA. Como resultado, o trabalho apresenta redes sistêmicas e categorias funcionais para a análise da oração em Libras, contribuindo para a descrição funcional de línguas de sinais e para a discussão tipológica no âmbito da Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional.

Abstract: This dissertation proposes a descriptive sketch of the lexicogrammar of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) at clause rank, from the perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics, focusing on the metafunctional profile of the clause ? textual, interpersonal, and experiential ? in interviews from the Corpus de Libras. The empirical basis of the study consists of interview texts with Rimar Ramalho Segala and Marisa Dias Lima, both deaf children of deaf parents, conducted by Juliana Tasca Lohn, who is also deaf. The research is characterized as a basic research study, with a descriptive-analytical objective, a qualitative approach, non-experimental data, elicited authenticity, primary data, manual analysis, and an analytically oriented procedure. Based on the data analysed, lexicogrammatical systems related to the three metafunctions of Libras were mapped. Within the textual metafunction, patterns of organization of the clause as message are described in relation to the systems of THEME SELECTION, MULTIPLE THEME, THEME PROMINENCE, and CLAUSE FOCUS. In the system of THEME SELECTION, the selection of one of the following options was observed: marked Theme or unmarked Theme. In the system of MULTIPLE THEME, the simultaneous options of presence or absence of textual Theme and interpersonal Theme were considered. In the system of THEME PROMINENCE, the presence or absence of prominence in clause construction was observed. In the system of CLAUSE FOCUS, the presence or absence of clause focus was described. Within the interpersonal metafunction, patterns of organization of the clause as exchange between signers are described in relation to the systems of MOOD, POLARITY, and MODALITY. In the system of MOOD, the selection of one of the following options was observed: imperative or indicative; within indicative, the selection of one of the following options: declarative or interrogative; and, within interrogative, the selection of one of the following options: polar interrogative or elemental interrogative. In the system of POLARITY, the selection of one of the following options was described: positive polarity or negative polarity. In the system of MODALITY, the selection between the presence or absence of modality was observed and, in cases where modality is present, between modalization and modulation. Within the experiential metafunction, patterns of organization of the clause as representation are described in relation to the systems of PROCESS TYPE and CIRCUMSTANCE. In the system of PROCESS TYPE, the selection of one of the following options was observed: material process, mental process, relational process, verbal process, behavioural process, or existential process; in cases of relational process, the selection of one of the following options was observed: attributive process or identifying process. In the system of CIRCUMSTANCE, the selection between the presence or absence of Circumstance was described and, in cases where Circumstance is present, the possible simultaneous selection of circumstances of EXTENT, LOCATION, MANNER, ACCOMPANIMENT, and CAUSE. As a result, this study presents system networks and functional categories for the analysis of the clause in Libras, contributing to the functional description of sign languages and to typological discussion within the scope of Systemic Functional Linguistics.
