dc.description.abstract The study aimed to analyze the level of knowledge and the social acceptance of electricity generation from renewable energy sources in Guinea-Bissau. A qualitative-quantitative approach was adopted to investigate perceptions of sources such as solar, wind, hydropower, tidal, and wave energy. Data were collected through a questionnaire applied to Guinean students at the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony. The results indicated that solar energy was the most mentioned source and the most accepted, followed by wind energy. It was observed that most participants expressed concern about the environmental and economic impacts related to the use of these sources, as well as a favorable tendency toward energy transition. It was also found that there is some conceptual confusion, especially in distinguishing between technologies and energy sources. In addition, the cost of electricity was identified as a significant financial burden, leading to demands for more accessible and reliable solutions. It was concluded that investment in education and awareness can strengthen the social acceptance of renewable technologies and contribute to a sustainable energy transition in Guinea-Bissau. pt_BR
