Expressões idiomáticas em Libras: uma análise a partir da perspectiva semântico-lexical

Abstract

Assim como no português brasileiro, que contém uma rica variedade de expressões idiomáticas provenientes de diferentes comunidades culturais, a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) também reflete essa diversidade. Cada região, comunidade e grupo da população surda pode desenvolver as suas próprias expressões e variações idiomáticas, enriquecendo ainda mais a língua de sinais e a cultura surda no Brasil. Nesse contexto, o objetivo dessa tese é analisar as expressões idiomáticas em Libras a partir de uma perspectiva semântico-lexical, destacando a sua construção e expressão no contexto linguístico visual. A pesquisa explora a importância da Libras para a comunidade surda, com ênfase no impacto cultural das expressões idiomáticas. A análise teórica se apoia em diversos autores, como Sabino (2011), Costa e Nascimento (2015), Budny (2015) e Polguère (2018), e sobre o léxico das línguas de sinais. Além disso, são discutidas as especificidades da semântica das línguas de sinais, com base em Biderman (2001), Vilarinho (2013), Silva Júnior (2018) e outros. A pesquisa adota como metodologia uma abordagem qualitativa, com viés documental e bibliográfico, analisando 30 expressões idiomáticas em Libras, refletindo aspectos culturais e cotidianos da comunidade surda. A análise focaliza a relação entre as expressões fraseológicas de Libras e seus significados culturais, sem recorrer à comparação direta entre a relação semântico-lexical e os significados idiomáticos. A análise das 30 expressões idiomáticas em Libras evidenciou a sua riqueza semântico-lexical, refletindo aspectos culturais, históricos e sociais da comunidade surda. As expressões têm significados múltiplos e flexíveis, integrando elementos físicos, mentais e emocionais. A necessidade de análise no contexto visual e linguístico da Libras enfatiza a sua autonomia como sistema linguístico completo e culturalmente. Esta pesquisa contribui para a compreensão da Semântica da Libras e destaca a importância dessas expressões para a identidade e a cultura surda, com implicações significativas para o ensino e a linguística das línguas de sinais.

Abstract: As in Brazilian Portuguese, which contains a rich variety of idiomatic expressions from different cultural communities, Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) reflects this diversity. Each region, community and group of the deaf population can develop its own idiomatic expressions and variations, further enriching the language and culture of the deaf in Brazil. In this context, the aim of this thesis is to analyze idiomatic expressions in Libras from a semantic-lexical perspective, highlighting their construction and expression in a visual linguistic context. The research explores the importance of Libras for the deaf community, with an emphasis on the cultural impact of idiomatic expressions. The theoretical analysis is based on different authors, such as Sabino (2011), Costa and Nascimento (2015), Budny (2015) and Polguère (2018), on the lexicon of sign languages. In addition, the specificities of sign language semantics are discussed, based on Biderman (2001), Vilarinho (2013), Silva Júnior (2018), among others. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with a documentary and bibliographical bias, analyzing 30 idiomatic expressions in Libras that reflect the cultural and everyday aspects of the deaf community. The analysis focuses on the relationship between phraseological expressions in Libras and their cultural meanings, without resorting to a direct comparison between the semantic-lexical relationship and the idiomatic meanings. The analysis of the 30 idiomatic expressions in Libras showed their semantic-lexical richness, reflecting cultural, historical and social aspects of the deaf community.
