TU e VOCÊ na fala de estudantes da UFSC: uma análise sociolinguística das formas de tratamento

Abstract

Com base em postulados da Teoria da Variação e Mudança (WEINREICH et al., 2006 [1968]; LABOV, 2008 [1972]) e na história e evolução das formas de tratamento no Brasil, à luz dos estudos de Faraco (2017 [1996]) e Cintra (1986 [1972]), este trabalho se propõe a investigar a alternância entre os pronomes TU e VOCÊ, registrada na fala de graduandos da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, decorrente de entrevistas realizadas por alunos da disciplina de Sociolinguística e Dialetologia do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística da UFSC, no ano de 2019, hoje parte do banco de dados linguísticos do Projeto Varsul. Para a realização das entrevistas, foi pré-estabelecido um protocolo dividido em quatro categorias de deslocamento e de grau acadêmico, do qual participaram 16 entrevistados e, destes, oito foram selecionados para a presente pesquisa. Foi estabelecido também um roteiro de assuntos a serem tratados pelos entrevistadores na interação com os informantes, os quais assinaram um termo de autorização de uso e receberam certificado de participação. A partir das falas gravadas e da revisão de literatura na área sociolinguística, este trabalho reflete sobre as seguintes observações: i) se predomina o uso de TU; ii) se as formas de tratamento escolhidas variam de acordo com relações de simetria e assimetria; iii) se os entrevistados alternam entre os pronomes TU e VOCÊ num mesmo trecho e quais as motivações desse uso, caso ocorra alternância; e iv) se, no âmbito do tratamento, as escolhas pelos pronomes acontecem de acordo com a colonização da região em que o informante nasceu e adquiriu seu vernáculo (cfe. LOREGIAN-PENKAL, 2004). Com base em estudo anterior (GRANDO, 2016) e na participação como entrevistadora na formação da amostra de fala selecionada para este estudo, a hipótese era que haveria predomínio de TU nas falas de informantes que nasceram e moram na Grande Florianópolis/SC, diferentemente dos informantes que nasceram em outras regiões do Brasil. De acordo com os resultados obtidos, com base na amostra utilizada, atestamos: o predomínio e conservadorismo do TU na grande Florianópolis, conforme havíamos previsto; o uso categórico de VOCÊ por informantes de outras regiões de Santa Catarina e fora do estado; e, ainda, concluímos que, devido ao alto índice de ocorrências entre diversificados informantes e tipos de deslocamentos, a relação entre o sujeito VOCÊ combinado com complemento TE seja um novo padrão sintático acontecendo no português brasileiro.

Abstract: Along the lines of Theory of Linguistic Variation and Change (Labov, 1972; Weinreich, Labov & Herzog, 2006) the history and the development of the Brazilian forms of address, following Faraco (2017) and Cintra (1986), the present work investigates the alternation between tu and você ? both 2nd person-singular pronouns ? and other forms of address attested in the speech by Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)?s undergraduate students, extracted from interviews, collected by students attending the course Sociolinguística e Dialetologia by UFSC?s Post-Graduation in Linguistics Program in 2019 ? currently, composing the corpora from VARSUL Project. Before the interviews, during 2nd semester from 2019, a script was made in order to categorize the interviewees in four degrees of dislocation and education. Following this script, we obtained 16 interviews; from these, 8 were selected to compose the corpus of this case-study. Moreover, we elaborated a script as regards the subjects to be approached by the interviewers, during the talk to the interviewees, who assigned a consent form and to whom was given a certificate of attendance. Based on the tapes with interviews and on the literature on Sociolinguistics, this dissertation discusses the following topics, namely, (i) the predominance of tu; (ii) the variation of the forms of address as regards the kind of relationship (symmetry/asymmetry); the putative alternation between tu and você in the same excerpt and the motivation for it (when it is the case); (iv) the relation between the speaker?s choice, regrinding the forms of address, the colonization degree by the location where s/he was born (see Loregian-Penkal, 2004). Following my previous work (Grando, 2016) and based on my participation as interviewer, the working hypothesis was that there would be predominance of tu in the speech by informants who were born and have lived in the macro-region of Florianópolis, differently form informants who were born in other locations from Brazil. According to our results, based on the sample extracted from our academic community, we reached at the following observations: (i) the predominance and the maintenance of tu in the macro-region of Florianópolis, as predicted; (ii) the assertive use of você by informants from other locations from both Santa Catarina and the outside of the state; (iii) due to the index of variation among the informants and the kinds of dislocation, the relation between você-subject and te-complement is a new syntactic pattern rising in Brazilian Portuguese.
