A contribuição da reflexão teológico-política de João Calvino no fenômeno de secularização do Estado e do direito

Abstract

O presente trabalho visa a responder o seguinte problema de pesquisa: Houve, de fato, alguma contribuição da reflexão teológico - política de João Calvino no processo de secularização do Estado e do Direito e, em caso afirmativo, em que consistiu essa contribuição? A escolha do tema justifica-se pelo interesse pessoal do pesquisador, pela relevância do tema e pelo ineditismo da pesquisa. Utiliza-se o método dedutivo, instrumentalizado a partir da pesquisa bibliográfica, com ênfase no exame de fontes primárias e secundárias, a fim da consubstanciação das conclusões por meio do procedimento monográfico, em texto que reúne três capítulos, aos quais se seguem as conclusões. O primeiro apresenta as similaridades entre luteranismo e calvinismo e os principais aspectos da doutrina teológica e política de João Calvino. O segundo capítulo tem como objetivo conceituar secularização a partir dos escritos de diferentes autores e determinar a relação entre o sagrado e o profano dela resultante. Por fim, o terceiro capítulo explana os efeitos da reflexão teológico-política calviniana exposta no capítulo primeiro no que tange à secularização. A hipótese cuja validade se buscou verificar indica que as reflexões de João Calvino sobre o governo civil apresentam uma ideia de interdependência entre a instituição governamental e a religiosa, com a consequente incorporação do foro eclesiástico pelo foro civil, referencial teórico que serviu de embrião para ideias posteriores acerca da relação entre as esferas política e religiosa.

This study aims to answer the following research problem: Were there some contribution of Calvin's theological political reflection on the secularization phenomen of the State and of the Law and, if it was, which were these contributions? The choice of theme is explained by the personal interest of the researcher, the relevance of the subject and the novelty of the research. It uses the deductive method, instrumentalized by bibliographic research, with emphasis on the examination of primary and secondary sources to justify the conclusions through the monographic procedure, in a text that brings together three chapters, followed by conclusions. The first chapter shows the similarities between lutheranism and calvinism and the main theological and political aspects of John Calvin’s Doctrine. The second one intends to explain what secularization is, according to different authors, and how works the relationship between the sacred and the profane resulted from this one. Finally, the third chapter shows the effects of the Calvinian theological political reflection, exposed at the first chapter, in what concerns secularization. The hypothesis whose validity is sought to verify indicates that John Calvin’s reflections about the civil government show an interdependence between the governmental and the religious institution and the consequent incorporation of the eclesiatical to the civil forum, which is a theoretical landmark that served as a germ for later ideas about the relationship between political and religious spheres.
