Soil microbial biomass (BMS) has a high responsiveness to changes in the environment, being a parameter that has been consolidated as a great indicator of soil quality, and can be used to detect problems caused by improper handling even prematurely. The soybean crop (Glycine max) has great expressiveness in the national scenario, being the main crop of many farmers, and to obtain satisfactory results in productivity, several operations are necessary that can cause damage to the soil system. Among the most common management systems, there is the adoption of the no-till system (SPD) and the conventional no-till system (SPC). The SPD has as main premises, the conservation of local characteristics, carrying out the necessary operations without promoting major impacts. The SPC, on the other hand, usually does not encourage conservationist management practices, as its operations have great impacts on the soil system, generating soil disruption and, consequently, impacting the entire biota present there. The objective of this work was to evaluate whether the factors related to the BMS activity (C-BMS, N-BMS, RBS, qCO2 and P-ase), can be used as indicators of soil quality, in different planting systems for the municipality from Curitibanos. The experiment was conducted in the field on the experimental farm of the Federal University of Santa Catarina campus Curitibanos in the 2018/2019 harvest. The experimental design used was randomized blocks (DBC), with three treatments and four different times of evaluation. The treatments were the Native Forest (MN), the No-tillage (PD) and the Conventional Planting (PC) and the evaluation periods were on the day of the sowing of the soybean, 15 days after sowing (DAS), 74 DAS and 128 DAS . The following BMS components were evaluated: BMS carbon (CBMS), BMS nitrogen (N-BMS), Basal Soil Respiration (RBS), BMS metabolic quotient (qCO2) and acid phosphatase enzyme activity. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and, when significant, the means compared by the Tukey test (p <0.05), using the Sisvar statistical software. The data obtained from the activity of the acid phosphatase enzyme and the N-BMS showed no significant difference. C-BMS and qCO2, on the other hand, showed a statistical difference between the periods of collection and treatments. For the CBMS, there was a difference between 15 DAS, being greater than the other periods in the PD. The PC showed a difference at 75 DAS and the MN at 0 DAS. Among the treatments, only the MN showed a statistical difference from the others between the times of sample collection. QCO2, on the other hand, showed a difference between 15 DAS and the other periods for PD. The PC showed difference at 75 DAS and 128 DAS and the MN at 0 DAS. At sowing, there was a statistical difference between MN, PC and PD. The RBS showed no difference between the periods of evaluation, but it was observed between the treatments, with the PD at 75 DAS. The variations in the BMS parameters between conventional and notillage were not as significant. However, they confirmed its efficiency, as an indicator of soil quality for the region. |
