Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is a crop of significant economic and nutritional interest not only at the national level but also globally. The soils in the southern region of Brazil generally exhibit acidic conditions, resulting in low nutrient availability for plants. Garlic is a crop that heavily depends on macronutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen. Nitrogen, in particular, is used in large quantities to meet the crop's needs, as it has a significant influence on vegetative development, productivity, and bulb quality. Although fertilizers are crucial for increasing agricultural productivity, their large-scale use in agriculture not only leads to higher production costs but also has harmful effects on the environment, causing soil and ecosystem pollution. The use of Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) is an alternative to this problem, as these microorganisms are essential to plant ecosystems due to their ability to aid in development through phosphate solubilization and biological nitrogen fixation. In this group of PGPR, some important genera stand out, such as Bacillus spp. and Pseudomonas spp. In this context, the objective was to evaluate the effect of rhizobacteria inoculation on the growth and production of garlic. The experiment was conducted in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with four treatments and four replications. The treatments used were the inoculation of isolates CBSAL02, EB17, a control without inoculation, and a commercial inoculant containing Bacillus subtilis. Evaluations were carried out in two stages, one at 74 DAS (days after sowing) and the other at the end of the cycle. Among the evaluations conducted at 74 DAS, all isolates were able to promote aerial part growth along with an increase in accumulated dry and fresh mass. In the final evaluation, in which bulb classification was performed, it was observed that the bulb classification was caliber 4 for the treatments with the CB02 isolate and the control, while for the treatments with the EB17 isolate of Bacillus spp. and Bacillus subtilis (commercial product), there was an increase in bulb classification to caliber 5. Therefore, the CBS, EB17, and Bacillus subtilis (commercial product) isolates have the capacity to promote plant growth, but only the EB17 and Bacillus subtilis isolates contributed to the production of caliber 5 bulbs, generating more added value.
