O papel da imagem para a constituição de sujeitos críticos na cultura digital e suas implicações na educação

Abstract

A complexidade do mundo contemporâneo, mediado pelas Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC), indica que, hoje, a produção cultural também é digital, e essa cultura tem promovido profundas mudanças sociais, nas quais a interação social sai do ambiente físico e passa também ao online. Essa realidade tem mudado a relação dos jovens com a educação, com a família, com as relações pessoais e com a vida em geral. Nesse novo modo de ser e estar no mundo, a imagem é um dos elementos indispensáveis para se produzir cultura, trazendo desafios para a sociedade e para o sujeito, cujas principais características são a autonomia e o empoderamento. É diante desse contexto do universo digital e do mundo das imagens que se dá a constituição do sujeito contemporâneo. A pesquisa que deu origem a esta tese aconteceu no ano de 2018 no Colégio de Aplicação da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), em Florianópolis, através de uma proposta de pesquisa-ação envolvendo estudantes e professores dos ensinos fundamental e médio. Teve como objetivo principal refletir sobre o papel da imagem na constituição de sujeitos críticos na cultura digital, e foi realizada através de uma metodologia qualitativa de análise de dados coletados em observação participante. A investigação primeiramente identificou a existência de sujeitos no campo empírico da pesquisa, para depois refletir sobre o papel da imagem na prática pedagógica que promoveu a constituição desse sujeito. Os principais resultados encontrados confirmam que a imagem é, realmente, a linguagem deste tempo. O olhar crítico, a leitura e a reflexão sobre a realidade são elementos fundamentais para a formação de sujeitos capazes de pensar a realidade de maneira crítica. Promover ações de educação que se propõem a discutir sobre temas que influenciam diretamente na vida e no convívio social das pessoas pode apontar brechas de possibilidades para a formação de sujeitos críticos, dentro do ambiente escolar e de forma atenta ao contexto atual, o universo digital, que possui a imagem como principal linguagem. A investigação também apontou a centralidade do papel da mediação do professor na criação de oportunidades para a formação dos sujeitos, posto que é o trabalho do professor que conduz essa possibilidade de construção da autonomia e do empoderamento.

Abstract: The complexity of the contemporary world, mediated by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), indicates that, today, cultural production is also digital and this culture has promoted profound social changes, in which social interaction leaves the physical environment and passes to the online environment. This reality has changed the relationship of young people with education, family, personal relationships and life in general. In this new way of being and interacting in the world, the image is one of the essential elements to produce culture, bringing challenges to society and to the subject, whose main characteristics are autonomy and empowerment. It is in this context of the digital universe and the world of images that the constitution of the contemporary subject takes place. The research that gave rise to this thesis took place in 2018 at the UFSC Application, in Florianópolis, through an action-research proposal, involving elementary and high school students and teachers. Its main objective was to reflect on the role of image in the constitution of critical subject in digital culture, and it was performed using a qualitative methodology of data analysis collected in participant observation. The investigation first identified the existence of subject in the empirical field of research and then reflected on the role of image in the pedagogical practice that promoted the constitution of this subject. The main results found confirm that the image is actually the language of this time. The critical eye, reading and reflection on reality are fundamental elements for the formation of subjects capable of critically reflecting reality. Promoting educational actions that propose to discuss themes that directly influence people's lives and social interactions, it can open breaches of possibilities for the formation of critical subjects, within the school environment and attentive to the current context, the digital universe, which has the image as its main language. The investigation also appointed the centrality of the role of teacher mediation in creating opportunities for the formation of subjects, since it is the teacher's work that leads to the possibility of constructing autonomy and empowerment.
