O caso Queermuseu e a restrição à liberdade de expressão artística

Abstract

Em setembro de 2017, a exposição Queermuseu – Cartografias da Diferença na Arte Brasileira em cartaz no Santander Cultural, em Porto Alegre, foi cancelada pela instituição financeira após protestos contra as obras de arte. A mostra foi realizada através do incentivo cultural da Lei Rouanet. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar se o cancelamento antecipado da mostra restringiu a liberdade de expressão artística. Foram utilizados o método de abordagem indutivo e o método de procedimento monográfico. Concluiu-se que a liberdade de expressão artística foi restringida pelo Banco Santander, pois o cancelamento antecipado da exposição representou censura de mercado, devido à preocupação do banco com a sua imagem pública e consequentes prejuízos financeiros.

In September 2017, an exhibition called Queermuseu – Cartografias da Diferença na Arte Brasileira on display at Santander Cultural, in Porto Alegre, was canceled by the financial institution after protests against the works of art. The exhibition was held through the cultural incentive of the Rouanet Law. The objective of this work was to verify if the early cancelation of the exhibition has restricted the freedom of artistic expression. In this work was used the inductive approach method and the monographic procedure method. It was concluded that the artistic freedom was restricted by the Santander Bank, because of the anticipated cancelation. It would represent market-censorship due to the bank’s concerns about its public image and consequent financial prejudices.
