Os Intérpretes de língua de sinais: atitudes frente à língua de sinais e às pessoas surdas

Abstract

A presente pesquisa procura refletir a respeito das atitudes que os profissionais intérpretes de língua de sinais possuem frente aos surdos e a LIBRAS. Tendo em vista toda a repressão que os surdos e a língua de sinais foram submetidos durante séculos, necessário se faz investigar que tipo de atitudes os profissionais, que atuam diretamente com esses falantes, possuem perante eles e a sua língua. Neste estudo, os intérpretes de língua de sinais foram contemplados. Empregados os procedimentos metodológicos necessários, como questionário e simulação de situações, pode-se perceber as atitudes presentes nestes profissionais e verificar que ainda relações coloniais se perpetuam até os dias atuais. Diante de tal constatação, como forma de intervenção nas línguas e nas relações dos falantes com elas, o grande objetivo das políticas lingüísticas é aprimorar a formação dos intérpretes de línguas de sinais.

This present research aims to reflect on the attitudes of professional sign language interpreters concerning deaf people and LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language). Considering all the oppression undergone by deaf people and sign language throughout the centuries, one needs to investigate what kind of attitude these professionals, who deals directly with users of this language, have facing them and their language. In this study, the sign language interpreters were regarded. Once the necessary methodological procedures were employed, as questionnaires and situation simulations, one can perceive the attitudes among these professionals and verify that there are colonial affairs hitherto perpetuated. Facing this evidence, as a way of intervening in the languages and in the affairs of their speakers with them, the great point of linguistic policies is to improve the formation of sign language interpreters.
