Da reserva ao florescer do Nhandereko: território e manejo da terra na tekoa Itanhaém

Abstract

Esta pesquisa investiga as práticas de manejo desenvolvidas no cotidiano da Reserva Indígena tekoa Itanhaém, as tomando como lente analítica para observar o diálogo entre o conhecimento tradicional Guarani Mbya e o saber juruá (não indígena) diante das condições impostas pela antiga fazenda de monocultura que ocupava o território onde hoje se situa a aldeia. A partir de um conjunto articulado de questões, se buscou compreender a transformação e o manejo contemporâneo do território, tendo como primeiro objetivo observar as principais mudanças materiais, ecológicas e sociais na paisagem atual e entender como os \"fantasmas\" desse passado - especialmente a degradação do solo - condicionam o habitar presente. Por meio do trabalho de campo etnográfico, que incluiu observação participante, registros gráficos e cartografia participativa da aldeia, a investigação se voltou para como estas práticas do nhandereko (o modo de ser guarani) se configuram, nesse contexto, como práticas cotidianas de lidar com a terra, as roças e as relações de parentesco. A pesquisa dedicou-se, ainda, a compreender como o modo tradicional de ser Mbya (o teko), fundamentado na agricultura e na mobilidade pelo território ancestral (yvyrupa), é vivido e ressignificado no contexto atual de um território fixo e juridicamente demarcado como \"Reserva indígena\". Os resultados revelam a capacidade de adaptação no habitar de um território marcado por múltiplas histórias, evidenciando que, mesmo diante das limitações impostas pela história fundiária e pelas pressões externas, a tekoa Itanhaém se constitui como um espaço onde o nhandereko continua a florescer por meio de um fazer território que articula saberes ancestrais, inovações técnicas e um profundo compromisso com as gerações futuras.

Abstract: This study examines the land management practices carried out in the daily life of the Tekoa Itanhaém Indigenous Reserve, using them as an analytical lens to observe the dialogue between traditional Guarani Mbya knowledge and Juruá (non-indigenous) knowledge in the face of the conditions imposed by the former monoculture farm that occupied the territory where the village is located today. Based on a coherent set of questions, the study sought to understand the transformation and contemporary management of the territory, with the primary objective of observing the main material, ecological, and social changes in the current landscape and understanding how the ?ghosts? of this past - especially soil degradation - shape present-day life. Through ethnographic fieldwork, which included participant observation, graphic records, and participatory mapping of the village, the research focused on how these nhandereko (the Guarani way of being) practices manifest, in this context, as everyday ways of dealing with the land, the farm plots, and kinship relations. The research also sought to understand how the traditional Mbya way of life (teko), grounded in agriculture and mobility across ancestral territory (yvyrupa), is lived and reinterpreted in the current context of a fixed territory legally demarcated as an ?Indigenous Reserve.? The results reveal the capacity for adaptation in inhabiting a territory marked by multiple histories, demonstrating that, even in the face of limitations imposed by land tenure history and external pressures, the tekoa Itanhaém stands as a space where the nhandereko continues to flourish through a process of territorial shaping that integrates ancestral knowledge, technical innovations, and a deep commitment to future generations.
