Um panorama do sistema de coleta de esgoto do município de Florianópolis entre os anos de 2015 a 2023 a partir da análise de dados do SNIS

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the sanitation indicators of the municipality of Florianópolis, with an emphasis on the coverage of the sewage collection network from 2015 to 2023, based on data from the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS). It addresses the contradiction between the city’s high development levels and its weak performance in basic sanitation compared to other capitals in Brazil and the Southern region. The analysis shows that access to basic sanitation in Brazil is closely linked to socioeconomic and regional inequalities, highlighting disparities within urban spaces. The research investigates Florianópolis’s urban dynamics, focusing on the unequal distribution of sanitation networks and the constraints of public policies in the sector. The main results indicate that, despite steady population growth and a robust GDP, Florianópolis faces challenges, including a significant portion of its population lacking access to sewage services, inconsistent infrastructure development, and per capita investments below national recommendations. This suggests a dissociation between economic progress and resource allocation for essential infrastructure, which compromises sustainable development. The study emphasizes the need for a more planned and effective approach to investments in basic sanitation, prioritizing policies that expand and improve sewage networks and increase per capita investments to align with national guidelines, thereby ensuring environmental sustainability, public health, and socioeconomic development.
