Tradução comentada do conto “A Fazenda dos Mirtilos”: explorando elementos verbo-visuais

Abstract

Esta pesquisa investiga a tensão entre narratividade e descritividade nas escolhas tradutórias de textos multimodais de literatura infanto-juvenil para a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras), a partir da tradução comentada do livro A Fazenda dos Mirtilos. Inserida no campo dos Estudos da Tradução, a investigação caracteriza-se como qualitativa, aplicada e descritiva (Minayo, 2024), adotando a tradução comentada como prática investigativa e o estudo de caso como procedimento metodológico (Gil, 2002). O trabalho busca compreender como os elementos narrativos e descritivos se articulam na construção de uma lógica verbo-visual da narrativa em Libras, considerando as especificidades da modalidade gesto-visual da língua e o público alvo infantil surdo (Albres; Costa; Adams, 2017). Para isso, foram utilizados como instrumentos de pesquisa o diário de tradução (Albres, 2026) e a análise de cenas do vídeo em Libras, possibilitando acompanhar as escolhas tradutórias realizadas ao longo do processo. Os resultados indicam que a tensão entre narrar e descrever influencia diretamente a construção da tradução, especialmente em textos multimodais (Gomes, 2019), nos quais imagem e texto verbal atuam de forma complementar (Albres, 2014). Observou-se que a exploração excessiva de recursos descritivos da Libras pode enfraquecer aspectos narrativos do texto verbal, deslocando sentidos importantes da obra. Conclui-se que a tradução de textos multimodais infantojuvenis para Libras demanda um constante equilíbrio entre descrição visual e progressão narrativa, exigindo do tradutor a articulação entre diferentes modos de significação na construção de uma narrativa coerente, visualmente significativa e acessível ao público surdo infantojuvenil.

This research investigates the tension between narrativity and descriptivity in the translational choices involved in translating multimodal children’s and young adult literature texts into Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), based on the commented translation of the book A Fazenda dos Mirtilos. Situated within the field of Translation Studies, the investigation is characterized as qualitative, applied, and descriptive (Minayo, 2024), adopting commented translation as an investigative practice and the case study as a methodological procedure (Gil, 2002). The study seeks to understand how narrative and descriptive elements articulate in the construction of a verbal-visual logic of the narrative in Libras, considering the specificities of the gestural-visual modality of the language and the target audience of deaf children (Albres; Costa; Adams, 2017). To this end, the translation diary (Albres, 2026) and the analysis of scenes from the Libras video were used as research instruments, enabling the tracking of translational choices made throughout the process.translation, allowing the monitoring of translational choices throughout the process. The results indicate that the tension between narrating and describing directly influences the construction of the translation, especially in multimodal texts (Gomes, 2019), in which images and verbal text operate in a complementary manner (Albres, 2014). It was observed that the excessive use of Libras' descriptive resources may weaken narrative aspects of the verbal text, displacing important meanings from the work. It is concludedThe study concludes that the translation of multimodal children’s and young adult texts into Libras demands a constant balance between visual description and narrative progression, requiring the trnslator to articulate different modes of signification in the construction of a coherent narrative that is visually meaninful and accessible to deaf children.
