Do texto escrito à narrativa sinalizada: Compreendendo o processo tradutório para uma produção audiovisual para Libras.

Abstract

A pesquisa descrita neste trabalho tem como tema Tradução Audiovisual Acessível em Libras-Português. Apresenta uma análise do processo tradutório de um conto infantil, do português escrito para a língua brasileira de sinais, numa perspectiva de tradução intersemiótica, partindo da reflexão de como as escolhas tradutórias no processo de tradução de português para Libras podem contribuir para uma tradução audiovisual acessível no gênero textual narrativa infantil. O estudo tem como objetivo analisar as escolhas tradutórias entre o par linguístico Português-Libras, identificando as características, técnicas e estratégias utilizadas na construção de uma tradução audiovisual acessível para crianças surdas, em fase de aquisição sinalar, de uma forma que não seja simplesmente transmitir uma informação, mas também vivenciar a experiência estética da narrativa, contribuindo para que a criança surda compreenda, se envolva e atribua sentido à história por meio da tradução do texto escrito para Libras. Assim, o cuidado nas escolhas feitas em relação à análise do gênero, definição de estratégias visuais, escolha de sinais, uso do espaço, expressões faciais, e ritmo, bem como as escolhas feitas e as problemáticas enfrentadas durante o processo tradutório que envolve modalidades diferentes, se faz essencial para proporcionar uma experiência significativa ao material produzido. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa, de natureza descritivo-analítica, tendo como base da análise o conto infantil “Percival a Lagarta” de 2007. O estudo parte da experiência vivenciada pela pesquisadora, discente do curso de graduação em Letras–Libras na modalidade EaD, no projeto de extensão universitária “Cada Encontro eu Conto um Conto”, vinculado ao departamento de Libras da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), no qual foi realizada a tradução da referida história para Libras. Como resultado, o estudo descreve metodologicamente o processo de tradução da literatura infantil para Libras, destacando suas etapas, os elementos que compõem o gênero textual trabalhado e a importância de adaptar tais elementos ao público infantil surdo. A partir dessa análise, espera-se contribuir para a ampliação e qualificação das produções literárias em Libras, valorizando a acessibilidade linguística e cultural desde a infância.

The research presented in this study focuses on Accessible Audiovisual Translation in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras)/Portuguese. It presents Analysis of the Translation Process of a Children's Story from Written Portuguese into Libras from an Intersemiotic Translation Perspective. The study is based on a reflection on how translation choices made during the translation process from Portuguese into Libras can contribute to accessible audiovisual translation within the genreof children's stories. The main objective is to analyze the translation choices made between Portuguese/Libras language pair, identifying the characteristics, techniques, and strategies used in the construction of an accessible audiovisual translation for deaf children in the early stages of sign language acquisition. The goal is not only to convey information but also to provide an aesthetic experience of the narrative, helping deaf children to understand, engage with, and construct meaning from the story through the translation of the written text into Libras. Therefore, careful consideration of translation choices regarding genre analysis, the definition of visual strategies, sign selection, use of space, facial expressions, narrative rhythm, and other linguistic and visual resources, as well as the challenges encountered throughout the translation process involving different language modalities, is essential to provide a meaningful experience through the translated material. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical perspective and is based on the analysis of the children's story Percival the Caterpillar (2007). The study draws upon the researcher's experience as an undergraduate student in the Distance Learning Bachelor's Degree Program in Libras at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), through participation in the university community outreach Project Every Time We Meet I Tell a Story (Cada Encontro eu Conto um Conto), linked to the Department of Libras, where the story was translated into Libras. This study methodologically describes the process of translating children's literature into Libras, highlighting its stages, the elements that characterize the literary genre investigated, and the importance of adapting these elements to the needs of deaf children. Through this analysis, the research seeks to contribute to the expansion and improvement of literary productions in Libras, promoting linguistic and cultural accessibility from early childhood.
