Title: Modelagem Magnetodinâmica e Análise de Perdas em Motores Sem Escovas com Ímãs Permanentes Utilizando o Método dos Elementos Finitos
This work presents the modeling of brushless permanent magnet electric motors, with emphasis on salient pole configurations, using the finite element method to analyze the magnetic behavior, including flux distribution, induced voltage, torque, and losses. The modeling is based on a magnetodynamic formulation in terms of the magnetic vector potential, enabling the solution of Maxwell’s equations. The model is applied to a motor with defined geometry and material properties and is evaluated under different operating conditions, such as no-load, load, and temperature variation. The results indicate that the original configuration exhibits magnetic saturation, distorted induced voltage waveforms, and torque oscillations, associated with the magnetic flux density distribution in the air gap and the stator geometry. A modification of the stator geometry, involving an increase in the cross-sectional area and adjustment of the tooth geometry, results in reduced saturation, improved voltage waveform quality, and decreased torque oscillations. In addition, it is observed that temperature increase reduces the magnetic induction of the magnets, directly affecting torque, induced voltage, and losses. The losses in the magnets, associated with eddy currents, are shown to depend on the temporal variations of the magnetic field. The results demonstrate that numerical modeling is an effective tool for the design and analysis of electric motors, enabling the identification of limitations and the proposal of improvements that enhance machine performance and efficiency.
