Por que (não) abolir a crase?

Abstract

Objetiva-se, com esta pesquisa, expor a visão de gramáticos, linguistas e escritores sobre o fenômeno linguístico crase (contração de dois aa), em sua modalidade escrita, bem como apresentar, sob levantamento bibliográfico e documental, conceitos e normas capazes de orientar o usuário da língua sobre o tema, já que houve até projeto político propondo a abolição da crase, o qual é abordado e discutido em um dos capítulos deste estudo. O fenômeno crase é indicado pelo Acento Grave AG (AG) (`): sinal gráfico requerido por assinalar a crase, no qual o primeiro a é preposição, já o segundo a pode ser: artigo definido feminino a(s); o a inicial dos pronomes demonstrativos aquela(s), aquele(s), aqueloutro ou aquilo; o pronome demonstrativo a(s), que substitui aquela(s); o a inicial do pronome relativo a qual ou as quais — além da apresentação de macetes e casos excepcionais. Entende-se que seu uso acertado pode fortalecer o significado da mensagem, evitar dúvidas e ambiguidades. Procura-se alcançar o falante do Português Brasileiro (PB) nas distintas esferas sociais, por meio da apresentação e descrição de elementos linguísticos requeridos para a formação do fenômeno crase, bem como externar e suscitar o questionamento sobre o projeto político propondo a abolição da crase. Além disso, promover reflexão sobre o tema, bem como contribuir para o usuário da língua compreendê-la. Cumpre mencionar que esta obra não atribui relação histórica à crase, mas visão de natureza convencional contemporânea. Embora haja propostas paralelas quanto a seu ensino, é o caráter prescritivo que impera nas instituições. Talvez, em virtude deste estudo, seja possível criar metodologias de ensino para favorecer sua compreensão. Propõe-se, portanto, reflexão sobre regras, variantes e ambiguidades. Por fim, este trabalho pretende possibilitar uma melhor assimilação do tema e, por consequência, o correto registro do acento gráfico correspondente — AG. Cumpre mencionar que esta pesquisa não pretende substituir, tampouco seria possível, obras linguísticas consagradas, como gramáticas e dicionários.

This research aims to expose the view of the grammarians, linguists and writes, in order to show, through bibliographic and documental survey, concepts and norms about the linguistic phenomenon crasis, in its written form, since there was a political project proposing its extinction, which is also debated along this research. The phenomenon is indicated by the Grave Accent (AG) (`): graphic sign responsible for indicating the crasis, in which the first a is a preposition, while the second a may be: the feminine definite article a(s), the initial a of demonstratives pronouns aquela(s), aquele(s), aqueloutro ou aquilo; the demonstrative pronoun a(s), which replaces aquela(s); the initial a of relative pronoun a qual, as quais — besides exceptional cases. Its correct use can strengthen the meaning of the message and avoid doubts and ambiguities. This study aims to reach the Brazilian Portuguese (BP) speaker in the various social spheres, through the description of linguistic elements required to form the phenomenon crasis in its occurrence, as well as raising and debate about the political project proposing the extinction of the crasis. Furthermore, try to promote reflection on the topic, as well as helping the speaker to understand it. On that account, there is no diachronic relation regarding to the crasis, but a view of a contemporary conventional approach. Although there are parallel proposals regarding its teaching, it is the prescriptive character that prevails all over. It is hoped that this study may serve as a reflection about it as well show its difficult as linguistic element. By highlighting the issue regarding the perception of the crasis, it may be possible to identify ways to favor its understanding. It is expected, therefore, reflection about linguistic norms, variants and ambiguities. Ultimately, this work is intended to make it possible to better understand the subject and, consequently, to correctly record the corresponding graphic accent — AG. It’s not intended to replace established linguistic works, such as grammars and dictionaries.
