Que lugar é esse?: a relação entre o espaço da cidade e a continuidade de si para imigrantes involuntários residentes em Florianópolis

Abstract

Este trabalho se propõe a investigar a relação entre o espaço da cidade e a continuidade de si para imigrantes involuntários residentes em Florianópolis. O estudo busca compreender como tais espaços influenciam e criam aspectos vinculados à produção de identidade desses sujeitos, frente aos desafios marcados pela ruptura devido a caracterização do seu processo migratório. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizando como principal metodologia a entrevista aberta em percursos comentados pela cidade realizado pela pesquisadora junto aos participantes, em locais escolhidos por eles. Tal metodologia permitiu acompanhar suas trajetórias físicas e simbólicas pela cidade. A ideia dos percursos parte da premissa de que o espaço urbano é vivido de forma única por cada imigrante, sendo moldado por suas experiências pessoais, relações sociais e a adaptação a um novo contexto. Os percursos são, portanto, entendidos não apenas como trajetos geográficos, mas como trajetórias emocionais e culturais que conectam o sujeito aos espaços que percorre, dando sentido à sua presença na cidade. O estudo investiga, ainda, como os sujeitos utilizam certos lugares como âncoras de pertencimento, criando espaços sensíveis e demonstrando formas diversas de apropriação. Além disso, as teias afetivas em redes de apoio ? como organizações e grupos de imigrantes ? contribuem para o fortalecimento e preservação de tradições que contribuem para aspectos protetivos vinculados à produção de identidade. Da mesma forma, o racismo e a xenofobia marcam desafios importantes. Este trabalho, portanto, busca também oferecer uma contribuição para a compreensão acerca dos processos de integração de imigrantes involuntários. Destaca-se a importância das condições de acolhimento, e do suporte de políticas públicas na criação de um lugar onde seja possível continuar a vida durante o processo de integração à nova realidade social e urbana. Os elementos da cidade podem, portanto, mediar, compor ou restaurar um campo de significados para esses sujeitos migrantes em sua nova realidade. Eles operam como catalisadores na produção de continuidade para imigrantes involuntários, promovendo tanto um desafio quanto uma oportunidade de reelaboração de referenciais simbólicos.

Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the relationship between the city space and the continuity of self for involuntary immigrants living in Florianópolis. The study seeks to understand how these spaces influence and create aspects linked to the production of identity for these individuals, in the face of challenges marked by rupture due to the characterization of their migratory process. The research adopts a qualitative approach, using as its main methodology open-ended interviews on routes through the city taken by the researcher with the participants, in places chosen by them. This methodology made it possible to follow their physical and symbolic journeys through the city. The idea of the routes is based on the premise that the urban space is experienced in a unique way by each immigrant, being shaped by their personal experiences, social relationships and adaptation to a new context. Journeys are therefore understood not just as geographical paths, but as emotional and cultural trajectories that connect the subject to the spaces they travel through, giving meaning to their presence in the city. The study also investigates how subjects use certain places as anchors of belonging, creating sensitive spaces and demonstrating different forms of appropriation. In addition, the affective webs in support networks - such as immigrant organizations and groups - help to strengthen and preserve traditions that contribute to protective aspects linked to the production of identity. In the same way, racism and xenophobia pose important challenges. This work, therefore, also seeks to make a contribution to understanding the integration processes of involuntary immigrants. It highlights the importance of reception conditions and the support of public policies in creating a place where life can continue during the process of integration into the new social and urban reality. The elements of the city can therefore mediate, compose or restore a field of meanings for these migrant subjects in their new reality. They act as catalysts in the production of continuity for involuntary immigrants, providing both a challenge and an opportunity to re-elaborate symbolic references.
