Bruxas e suas magias na Desterro contemporânea: convenções de gênero e narrativas locais

Abstract

A pesquisa explora a presença das Bruxas em Florianópolis, se inserindo no debate sobre as relações de gênero, patrimônio imaterial e narrativas culturais. A temática central é a análise das Bruxas como agentes que tensionam estruturas de poder e ressignificam convenções de gênero, evidenciando sua relevância na construção de identidades e significados culturais locais. O objetivo principal é compreender como as Bruxas são manifestadas, percebidas e interpretadas pelos moradores da região, investigando as intersecções entre gênero, cultura e agência. A metodologia combina levantamento bibliográfico e trabalho de campo, com base em ferramentas como a observação participante, afetação em campo e escuta ativa, inspirada na CNV - Co- municação Não Violenta e na figura da "escutadeira feminista”, orientadas por teorias antropológicas e feministas. Esta abordagem permitiu capturar a multiplicidade de sig- nificados atribuídos às Bruxas, conectando-as ao contexto histórico e cultural da re- gião, desde pesquisas feitas anteriormente até as práticas vividas pelas interlocutoras contemporaneamente. Os resultados indicam que as Bruxas não são apenas elemen- tos folclóricos, mas possuem agência que incorpora saberes ancestrais e práticas co- tidianas, conectando influências indígenas, africanas e açorianas. Elas emergem como agentes de transformação que desafiam dualidades normativas e ampliam as perspectivas sociais com sua “agência bruxólica”. Conclui-se que as narrativas sobre as Bruxas da Desterro Contemporânea desempenham um papel significativo na cons- trução de sentidos sobre a vida humana e as relações sociais, atuando como ferra- mentas de questionamento e ressignificação, onde as Bruxas simbolizam a riqueza cultural e a resiliência da região, propondo novos horizontes de convivência e signifi- cação. Este trabalho contribui para os debates sobre gênero, patrimônio cultural e agência, destacando como as narrativas culturais atuam no mundo social, fomentando reflexões sobre gênero, poder e cultura.

The research explores the presence of Witches in Florianópolis, as part of the debate on gender relations, intangible heritage and cultural narratives. The central theme is the analysis of Witches as agents who tension power structures and re-signify gender conventions, highlighting their relevance in the construction of local cultural identities and meanings. The main objective is to understand how Witches are manifested, perceived and interpreted by local residents, investigating the intersections between gender, culture and agency. The methodology combines bibliographical research and fieldwork, based on tools such as participant observation, affectation in the field and active listening, inspired by NVC - Nonviolent Communication and the figure of the “feminist listener, guided by anthropological and feminist theories. This approach made it possible to capture the multiplicity of meanings attributed to the Witches, connecting them to the historical and cultural context of the region, from previous researches to the practices experienced by the interlocutors today. The results indicate that Witches are not just folkloric elements, but have agency that incorporates ancestral knowledge and everyday practices, connecting indigenous, African and Azorean influences. They emerge as agents of transformation who challenge normative dualities and broaden social perspectives with their “witch-like agency”. It is concluded that the narratives about the Witches of Contemporary Desterro play a significant role in the construction of meanings about human life and social relations, acting as tools for questioning and re-signification, where the Witches symbolize the cultural richness and resilience of the region, proposing new horizons of coexistence and meaning. This work contributes to debates on gender, cultural heritage and agency, highlighting how cultural narratives act in the social world, fostering reflections on gender, power and culture.
