As centralidades urbanas e geoeconômicas da rede urbana de Santa Catarina e suas interações espaciais

Abstract

Esta tese traz o estudo sobre a rede urbana no mundo contemporâneo e sua intrínseca ligação com o processo de urbanização e com as etapas do modo de produção capitalista: produção, distribuição, circulação e consumo. Neste contexto, este trabalho apresenta a formação e evolução da rede urbana de Santa Catarina destacando sua forma espacial e a formação das centralidades urbanas e suas interconexões na estrutura social e espacial do estado. É apresentado na tese a configuração da rede urbana de Santa Catarina a partir dos processos históricos os fatores econômicos, políticos e culturais que moldaram e moldam as relações produtivas do estado, do crescimento demográfico e econômico das cidades catarinense e o papel geoeconômico destas cidades na divisão territorial do trabalho e das formas de interações espaciais. A tese está organizada em quatro capítulos. No primeiro capítulo foi apresentado a fundamentação teórica e o debate conceitual sobe rede urbana com ênfase na rede urbana de Santa Catarina. No segundo capítulo discorre sobre o processo formação socioespacial de Santa Catarina com destaque para a formação e configuração da rede urbana, na distribuição demográfica, na oferta de serviços, nas dinâmicas econômicas e as relações sociais em diferentes regiões do estado. No terceiro capítulo a tese apresenta a estrutura e forma da rede urbana evidenciando os principais fluxos e centralidades urbanas. E no último capítulo é apresentado a forma espacial da rede urbana de Santa Catarina, suas centralidades geoeconômicas e suas interações espaciais. O estudo em tela foi norteado tendo como base teórico os autores: Christaller, Milton Santos, Michel Rochefort, Pedro Pinchas Geiger, Roberto Lobato Corrêa, Alexandre Cheptulin, Ignácio Rangel, Armem Mamigonian e Victor Antônio Peluso Júnior. Foi a partir destes autores que apresentamos o estado da arte da rede urbana e um panorama da formação socioespacial de Santa Catarina estruturado em três momentos histórico: do século XVIII até 1930; de 1930 até 1980; e de 1980 até 2020. O trabalho destaca o papel do Estado no desenvolvimento e organização espacial de Santa Catarina e na construção das infraestruturas técnicas (transporte e comunicação) no espaço e no tempo. Foi destacado o contexto do processo de urbanização e do desenvolvimento das cidades e suas partições na organização e interconexão dos centros urbanos dentro da rede urbana de Santa Catarina. Em suma, foi apresentado a rede urbana e suas relações de complementaridade e hierarquia entre as diferentes cidades com papéis diversos na divisão territorial do trabalho. Para tanto, foi destacado as interações espaciais dentro da rede urbana de Santa Catarina envolvendo fluxos de pessoas, mercadorias, informações, capitais e serviços, levando em consideração o papel da divisão territorial do trabalho no estado e a participação de Santa Catarina na divisão internacional do trabalho. O trabalho apresenta a forma espacial da rede urbana de Santa Catarina, suas centralidades geoeconômicas e as interações espaciais. Por fim, o estudo traz significativa representação cartográfica das infraestruturas dos transportes e comunicação; dos fluxos de mercadorias, informações, pessoas e capitais e as formas de interações espaciais e sua dinâmica sobre o território de Santa Catarina. Este estudo não é uma finalização sobre a configuração e forma espacial da rede urbana de Santa Catarina, suas centralidades e interações espaciais, mas é uma pesquisa que visa contribuir com o desenvolvimento do conhecimento e pensamento geográfico, sobretudo, de novos estudos sobre rede urbana, centralidades geoeconômicas e interações espaciais.

Abstract: This thesis presents a study on the urban network in the contemporary world and its intrinsic connection with the urbanization process and the stages of the capitalist mode of production: production, distribution, circulation, and consumption. In this context, the work examines the formation and evolution of the urban network in Santa Catarina, highlighting spatial form and the formation of urban centralities and their interconnections within the state's social and spatial structure. The thesis outlines the configuration of Santa Catarina's urban network based on historical processes and the economic, political, and cultural factors that have shaped and continue to shape the state's productive relations, demographic and economic growth of cities, and the geoeconomic roles of these cities in the territorial division of labor and forms of spatial interactions. The thesis is organized into four chapters. The first chapter presents the theoretical foundation and conceptual debate on the urban network, with an emphasis on the urban network of Santa Catarina. The second chapter discusses the socio-spatial formation process of Santa Catarina, highlighting the formation and configuration of the urban network, demographic distribution, service provision, economic dynamics, and social relations in different regions of the state. The third chapter describes the structure and form of the urban network, emphasizing the main urban flows and centralities. The final chapter focuses on the spatial form of Santa Catarina's urban network, its geoeconomic centralities, and spatial interactions.This study is guided by the theoretical contributions of authors such as Christaller, Milton Santos, Michel Rochefort, Pedro Pinchas Geiger, Roberto Lobato Corrêa, Alexandre Cheptulin, Ignácio Rangel, Armen Mamigonian, and Victor Antônio Peluso Júnior. Drawing from these scholars, the thesis presents the state of the art of the urban network and provides an overview of the socio-spatial formation of Santa Catarina, structured into three historical periods: from the 18th century to 1930; from 1930 to 1980; and from 1980 to 2020. The work highlights the role of the state in the development and spatial organization of Santa Catarina and in the construction of technical infrastructures (transport and communication) over time and space. It emphasizes the context of urbanization and city development processes and their contributions to the organization and interconnection of urban centers within Santa Catarina's urban network. In summary, the thesis examines the urban network and its complementary and hierarchical relationships among different cities, each playing diverse roles in the territorial division of labor. It underscores the spatial interactions within Santa Catarina's urban network, involving flows of people, goods, information, capital, and services, while considering the state's role in the international division of labor. The study presents the spatial form of Santa Catarina's urban network, its geoeconomic centralities, and spatial interactions. Finally, it includes significant cartographic representations of transport and communication infrastructures; flows of goods, information, people, and capital; and the dynamics of spatial interactions across Santa Catarina's territory. This study is not a final statement on the configuration and spatial form of Santa Catarina's urban network, centralities, and spatial interactions. Instead, it aims to contribute to the development of geographic knowledge and thought, particularly through new studies on the urban network, geoeconomic centralities, and spatial interactions.
