Fogo e Sangue: a aplicabilidade do conceito de segurança ontológica na narrativa de Daenerys Targaryen

Abstract

O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar a aplicabilidade do conceito de segurança ontológica, que recentemente passou a ser utilizado o estudo das relações internacionais, na história de Daenerys Targaryen. Compreendendo o objetivo da pesquisa, este estudo empregou o método hipotético dedutivo para analisar a aplicação do conceito de segurança ontológica na trajetória da personagem Daenerys Targaryen na série Game of Thrones. A hipótese central proposta sugeria que a insegurança ontológica de Daenerys era desencadeada pela ruptura em sua narrativa, motivada pela perda de elementos fundamentais que moldaram sua identidade no contexto da trama. Estes elementos incluíam a morte de seus dragões, a ameaça à legitimidade de sua reivindicação ao trono, a traição e morte de conselheiros próximos e o antagonismo de Cersei. A hipótese previa que a ansiedade resultante dessa disrupção culminaria em um desfecho brutal. Ao longo da pesquisa, analisou-se minuciosamente a evolução da personagem, desdobrando os elementos que compunham sua busca por segurança ontológica. Esses elementos foram organizados em três pilares fundamentais: a legitimidade de sua pretensão ao Trono de Ferro, a importância de seus dragões como símbolos de poder e herança Targaryen e o círculo de confiança com seus aliados. Os resultados revelaram que a relação entre a insegurança ontológica de Daenerys e suas ações finais na série era mais intrincada do que inicialmente postulado. Embora a insegurança ontológica desempenhasse um papel central, sua transformação em uma figura autoritária e violenta no desfecho da narrativa também foi influenciada por uma série de outros fatores. Neste contexto, o estudo ofereceu insights profundos para a análise de personagens ficcionais, destacando como conceitos complexos, como a segurança ontológica nas Relações Internacionais, podem ser aplicados em contextos de narrativas. Ele ressaltou a importância de considerar múltiplos fatores ao avaliar personagens fictícias em relação a conceitos complexos. Em última análise, a pesquisa demonstrou que a relação entre insegurança ontológica e ações finais é multifacetada e não pode ser reduzida a uma única causa. Portanto, este estudo contribui para a compreensão de análises narrativas e como conceitos complexos podem ser aplicados em contextos ficcionais. A complexa jornada de Daenerys Targaryen iluminou questões morais, éticas e existenciais que afetam indivíduos e Estados em sua busca por segurança ontológica.

The research aims to analyze the applicability of the concept of ontological security, which has recently been employed in the field of International Relations, to the narrative of Daenerys Targaryen. In line with the research objective, this study employed the hypothetical-deductive method to examine the application of the ontological security concept in the trajectory of the character Daenerys Targaryen in the series Game of Thrones. The central hypothesis proposed suggested that Daenerys' ontological insecurity was triggered by the disruption in her narrative, motivated by the loss of fundamental elements that shaped her identity within the plot. These elements included the death of her dragons, the threat to the legitimacy of her claim to the throne, the betrayal and death of close advisors, and the antagonism of Cersei. The hypothesis predicted that the resulting anxiety from this disruption would culminate in a brutal outcome. Throughout the research, the character's evolution was meticulously analyzed, unfolding the elements that composed her quest for ontological security. These elements were categorized into three fundamental pillars: the legitimacy of her claim to the Iron Throne, the significance of her dragons as symbols of power and Targaryen heritage, and the circle of trust with her allies. The results revealed that the relationship between Daenerys' ontological insecurity and her final actions in the series was more intricate than initially postulated. While ontological insecurity played a central role, her transformation into an authoritarian and violent figure in the narrative's conclusion was also influenced by a series of other factors. In this context, the study provided profound insights into the analysis of fictional characters, highlighting how complex concepts, such as ontological security in International Relations, can be applied in narrative contexts. It underscored the importance of considering multiple factors when evaluating fictional characters in relation to complex concepts. Ultimately, the research demonstrated that the relationship between ontological insecurity and final actions is multifaceted and cannot be reduced to a single cause. Therefore, this study contributes to the understanding of narrative analysis and how complex concepts can be applied in fictional contexts. Daenerys Targaryen's complex journey shed light on moral, ethical, and existential issues that affect individuals and states in their quest for ontological security.
