A dialética da morte

Abstract

Ao leitor, não sem razão, a presente tese soará como um paradoxo. De fato, o que está em jogo aqui é, em todos os sentidos da palavra, um paradoxo. Algo experenciado, cabe dizer, não apenas do lado de quem lê, como é evidente, mas também do lado de quem escreve. Uma constatação, aliás, da qual a apresentação, que relaciona ambas as perspectivas, antes de se afastar, faz questão de não nos deixar esquecer. Não se trata, portanto, de uma arbitrariedade, certa ingenuidade ou mera impostura acadêmica. Ao contrário, do interior mesmo da academia, como parte da tradição filosófica, sobretudo, em alusão ao que recebe o nome de dialética, é que uma reflexão sobre a filosofia e o seu papel, sobre os limites do pensamento e da linguagem, inclusive, no que diz respeito à possibilidade ou não de uma tese, deveria e, então, fora enunciada. Esse, simplesmente, é o modo de proceder adotado nesse trabalho, à medida que, junto à potência de uma tese, a qual faz de si mesma o seu tema e problema, pensamos a nossa própria tarefa. A única subversão, talvez, é desvelada como uma radicalização dos princípios legitimados pela referida tradição, porém, com a renúncia de qualquer segurança, uma vez que, por levar a crítica às últimas consequências, assumimos o risco de fracasso, com frequência, tão evitado. Afinal, uma tentativa de pensar a morte, a despeito de seu suposto rigor, fora flagrada, inesperadamente, por seu alvo, contudo, não mais como um conceito vazio, abstrato e universal, e sim, como uma experiência concreta, singular, ao mesmo tempo, de luto e de trauma. Como uma imagem ambivalente, a tese expõe a sua dupla reviravolta ao rememorar o nosso encontro com o testemunho da Shoah, a partir da escuta, nesse caso, da leitura, das vozes dos sobreviventes daquela catástrofe, ele próprio, atravessado, de súbito, por um desencontro, na emergência de um momento também catastrófico, para o qual a data de publicação desse trabalho, apontando para trás, é um indício. Ainda assim, a proposta suscitará algum estranhamento. E não haveria condição mais adequada para o seu respectivo vir a ser às avessas. Na verdade, a tese conta justamente com esse efeito inesperado, de inquietação e desconforto, como espelhamento de sua escrita, a partir da paralisação do pensamento, incapaz de reagir à violência provocada com a singularidade da experiência de que é um testemunho. Ao leitor, também exposto ao perigo, dispomos uma abertura, oportunidade de parada, de interrupção e desinvestimento do falatório ideológico, em referência à instrumentalização da linguagem, à força, pelo poder. A reação imediata é o abandono desse texto. Como resposta, demandamos um engajamento de proporção inversa, para o qual não há preparação suficiente, pois estamos na presença de algo impensável a priori, ou seja, ilegível se não experenciado. A tese se mostra, portanto, contra as expectativas, quando testemunhada, para além de sua mera letra, esteticamente. Por esse motivo, diante das limitações de um resumo, sem desfigurá-lo ainda mais, podemos apenas convidar o leitor, de algum modo, interpelado pelo título ostentado por esse trabalho, e agora advertido quanto ao seu contexto singular, ao diálogo. Sim, um diálogo sobre a morte, mesmo que interditado, quebrado, contra si próprio, a partir da privação mútua, do isolamento, por entre as fraturas, e aberturas, da linguagem. Enquanto isso, a tese de que se fala, suspensa como uma conversa comum, permanece, sem a pretensão de oferecer a palavra final, e diante da urgência da vida, pacientemente, à espera.

Abstract: To the reader, not without reason, the present thesis will sound like a paradox. In fact, what is at stake here is, in every sense of the word, a paradox. Something experienced, it must be said, not only on the side of the one who reads, as evident, but also on the side of the one who writes. A finding, moreover, from which the presentation, relating both perspectives, before moving away, makes a point of not letting us forget. It is not, therefore, a matter of arbitrariness, a certain naivety or mere academic imposture. On the contrary, from within academia itself, as part of the philosophical tradition, above all, in allusion to what receives the name of dialectic, is that a reflection on philosophy and its role, on the limits of thought and language, including, about the possibility or not of a thesis, should and then was stated. This, simply, is the way of proceeding adopted in this work, to the extent that, together with the potency of a thesis, which makes itself its theme and problem, we think about our own task. The only subversion, perhaps, is revealed as a radicalization of the principles legitimized by that tradition, but with the renunciation of any security, since, by taking criticism to its ultimate consequences, we assume the risk of failure, often so avoided. After all, an attempt to think of death, despite its supposed rigor, had been caught unexpectedly by its target, however, no longer as an empty, abstract and universal concept, but as a concrete, singular experience, at the same time, of mourning and trauma. As an ambivalent image, the thesis exposes its double twist by recalling our encounter with the testimony of the Shoah, through listening, in this case, reading, the voices of the survivors of that catastrophe, itself suddenly crossed by a disencounter, in the emergence of another catastrophic moment, to which the publication date of this work, pointing backwards, is an indication. Still, the proposal may evoke some estrangement. And there would be no more suitable condition for its respective reversed becoming. In fact, the thesis relies precisely on this unexpected effect, of restlessness and discomfort, as a mirror of its writing, from the paralysis of thought, unable to react to the violence provoked with the singularity of the experience that it is a testimony. To the reader, also exposed to danger, we offer an opening, opportunity to stop, interrupt and disinvest the ideological speech, in reference to the instrumentalization of language by force. The immediate reaction is to abandon this text. As a response, we demand an engagement of inverse proportion, for which there is not enough preparation, because we are in the presence of something unthinkable a priori, that is, illegible if not experienced. The thesis shows itself, against expectations, when witnessed, beyond its mere letter, aesthetically. For this reason, given the limitations of an abstract, without further disfiguring it, we can only invite the reader, in some way, challenged by the title displayed by this work, and now warned about its singular context, to dialogue. Yes, a dialogue about death, even if interdicted, broken, against itself, from the mutual privation, from isolation, through the fractures, and openings, of language. Meanwhile, the thesis spoken of, suspended as a common conversation, remains, against the pretention of offering the final word, and in the face of the urgency of life, patiently, waiting.
