Metafísica fraca: uma crítica ao niilismo hermenêutico de Gianni Vattimo

Abstract

O filósofo italiano Gianni Vattimo defende que, com o advento do niilismo consumado e a derrocada crescente de noções como verdade, razão, ciência etc., a Pós-Modernidade se torna um momento propício para a completa emancipação do pensamento, livre de qualquer referencial de ordem ontológica. Pautado na antimetafisicalidade do niilismo nietzschiano, Vattimo se apropria seletivamente de conceitos de Heidegger a fim de justificar o que chama de niilismo hermenêutico, acontecimento historial de nossa época, a seu ver positivo, em que não é possível que determinado pensamento se arrogue à força de sobrepôr-se ante os demais. Em nosso entendimento, todavia, esta ontologia do declínio é afim à atual aniquilação do sentido e da autenticidade promovida pela imposição técnica, sob a qual nossa única possibilidade de pensamento é inócua e débil. Devido à ausência de critérios valorativos para o pensamento, o nobre ideal de pluralidade democrática de Vattimo permite degenerar-se em retóricas irracionais e arbitrárias ? tudo a que se opõem a hermenêutica e a filosofia ?, sendo impotente ante o eventual despontar da intolerância e da violência, sempre tecnicamente fundadas. Sustenta-se nesta tese, portanto, que a superação da metafísica que Vattimo enxerga no niilismo contemporâneo é apenas aparente, pois não é dada à humanidade a possibilidade de um pensamento pós-metafísico sob o domínio histórico-epocal da técnica. Pensamento fraco, por recusar de modo sistemático o propriamente ontológico, incorre numa metafísica por excelência, que corresponde efetivamente aos nexos do pensar em nossa época. Trata-se de uma metafísica fraca porque seu niilismo, almejando fugir das violências metafísicas, não admite nem a força de um acesso mais originário ao ser, nem a necessidade de orientar-se pelos fundamentos do ente, como as metafísicas fortes da tradição.

Abstract: The Italian philosopher Gianni Vattimo defends that, with the advent of consummate nihilism and the growing downfall of notions such as truth, reason, science etc., Postmodernity become a propitious moment for the complete emancipation of thought, free of any ontological reference. Guided by the antimetaphysicality of Nietzschean nihilism, Vattimo selectively appropriates Heidegger?s concepts in order to justify what he calls hermeneutical nihilism, a historical event of our times ? a positive one, in his view ? in wich a certain thought cannot seize the strength required to supplant others. In our understanding, however, this ontology of decline is related to the current annihilation of meaning and authenticity promoted by technological imposition, under which our only possibility of thought is innocuous and feeble. Due to the absence of valuation criteria for thought, Vattimo?s noble ideal of democratic plurality is allowed to degenerat into irrational and arbitrary rhetorics ? all that hermeneutics and philosophy oppose ?, being powerless in the face of ocasionally rising intolerance and violence, always technologically grounded. It is argued in this dissertation, therefore, that the overcoming of metaphysics that Vattimo identifies in contemporary nihilism is merely apparent, because humanity is not given the possibility of postmetaphiysical thought under the epochal-historical dominance of technology. Weak thought, by sistematically refusing the ontological itself, incurs in metaphysics par excellence, which effectively corresponds to the nexuses of thought in our times. It consists in a weak metaphysics because its nihilism, aiming to avoid metaphysical violences, acknowledges neither the strenght of a more originary access to Being, nor the necessity of to be oriented by the being?s ground, as in the strong traditional metaphysics.
