In Engineering, a large variety of materials and products enter the market every single day, however, it is always necessary to make a critical assessment to identify what really will benefit the customer, and find what the most appropriate technology for each case is. A search in Itajaí Valley was performed aimed to identify the aggregates in the region, after the identification of the aggregates, the samples were brought to the laboratory for the characterization of these aggregates and then check the viability of high performance concrete (HPC) production using this aggregates. The theoretical referential brings definitions of concrete mixtures, additions, aggregates, additives, binders, and other components used in production of concrete, then, indicate technical and economic differences and advantages that exist between conventional concrete and HPC. Na Engenharia, uma grande variedade de materiais e produtos entra no mercado a cada dia, porém, é sempre necessário realizar uma avaliação crítica para identificar aquilo que realmente trará vantagens para o cliente, e verificar qual é a tecnologia mais adequada para cada caso. Realizou-se uma pesquisa no Vale do Itajaí para identificar os agregados presentes na região, após a identificação dos agregados, amostras foram trazidas ao laboratório para a caracterização destes agregados e então verificar a viabilidade da produção do concreto de alto desempenho (CAD) utilizando os mesmos. O referencial teórico traz definições de traços, adições, agregados, aditivos, aglomerantes, entre outros componentes utilizados para a produção de concreto, para então, indicar as diferenças e vantagens técnicas e econômicas que existem entre o concreto convencional e o CAD. O trabalho aponta a evolução do CAD e de alguns de seus componentes ao longo da história. |
