Jovens e jornalismo: a periferia de Criciúma, em Santa Catarina, e o consumo de notícias smartphone

Abstract

A investigação tem como objetivo identificar quais as características que estruturam o conteúdo jornalístico que é acessado via smartphone por jovens da periferia de uma cidade do interior do estado de Santa Catarina, no caso aqui a cidade de Criciúma. Busca-se entender qual o conteúdo acessado por eles, analisar e sistematizar as características do acesso desses jovens, que são observados em dois locais específicos, o Centro de Referência em Assistência Social (CRAS) e na unidade de Criciúma (SC) da Central Única de Favelas (CUFA). Para tanto, fundamenta-se referência nos estudos da cultura latino-americana, Martín-Barbero (2009, 2015) e Canclini (2010), articulados a estudiosos que se dedicam a compreender a produção de conteúdo jornalístico em dispositivos móveis, Paulino (2016), Silva (2015). A pesquisa se desenvolveu com adolescentes e jovens que frequentam projetos sociais nesses dois espaços de atuação, e foi realizada com questionários semiestruturados e grupos focais, para aprofundamento do assunto. Do início das primeiras observações e contato com os jovens, em 2017, quando foi aplicado o primeiro questionário, para as novas investigações em 2021, foi possível perceber mudanças no acesso aos conteúdos, já que antes nem todos os jovens possuíam smartphone, aparelho que agora se faz presente no cotidiano de praticamente todos eles. A facilidade de acesso à internet foi outro fator que permitiu que o consumo de conteúdo se tornasse maior. Para identificar quais são as características do que é acessado por eles, buscou-se nos mapas noturnos de Martín-Barbero (2018), com os ajustes de Rincón (2018; 2019), o suporte para compreender melhor a realidade do jovem da periferia criciumense. Por meio dessa reconfiguração alternativa de uma cartografia própria, com a criação do Mapa Noturno da Juventude Periférica de Criciúma, foi possível identificar alguns pontos que confirmam que o jovem da periferia criciumense está mais conectado, consome e produz conteúdo em vídeo. Do grupo de 10 jovens que fez parte da pesquisa em profundidade 80% entende o que é jornalismo e confia no que os jornalistas informam. Quando quer se informar, embora 90% assista televisão, especialmente nos momentos em que está com a família, 65% vai para a internet buscar essa informação complementar, utilizando o smartphone como ferramenta de conexão. Sobre o que é noticiado pela imprensa, a maioria acredita nas informações, mas há uma desconfiança sobre o exagero no relato de fatos. Na avaliação dos jovens, as principais notícias que aparecem das suas comunidades dizem respeito às questões da área de segurança pública, com atuação policial e violência, e para 80% deles haveria outras situações corriqueiras do cotidiano que poderiam pautar a imprensa. resumo são ressaltados o objetivo da pesquisa, o método utilizado, as discussões e os resultados, com destaque apenas para os pontos principais.

Abstract: The investigation aims to identify the characteristics that structure journalistic content that is accessed via smartphone by young people from the outskirts of a city in the interior of the state of Santa Catarina, in this case the city of Criciúma. We seek to understand the content accessed by them, analyze and systematize the characteristics of these young people's access, which are observed in two specific places, the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) and in the Criciúma (SC) unit of Central Única. of Favelas (CUFA). To this end, reference is made to the studies of Latin American culture, Martín-Barbero (2009, 2015) and Canclini (2010), articulated with scholars who are dedicated to understanding the production of journalistic content on mobile devices, Paulino (2016), Silva (2015). The research was developed with teenagers and young people who attend social projects in these two areas of action, and was carried out with semi-structured questionnaires and focus groups, to deepen the subject. From the beginning of the first observations and contact with young people, in 2017, when the first questionnaire was applied, to the new investigations in 2021, it was possible to perceive changes in access to content, since before all young people had a smartphone. Device that is now present in the daily lives of practically all of them. The ease of access to the internet was another factor that allowed the consumption of content to become greater. In order to identify the characteristics of what is accessed by them, Martín-Barbero?s (2018) night maps were sought, with adjustments by Rincón (2018; 2019), the support to better understand the reality of young people from the criciumense periphery. Through this alternative reconfiguration of its own cartography, with the creation of the Night Map of the Peripheral Youth of Criciúma, it was possible to identify some points that confirm that young people from the periphery of Criciúma are more connected, consume and produce video content. Of the group of 10 young people who took part in the in-depth research, 80% understand what journalism is and trust what journalists report. When they want to find out, although 90% watch television, especially when they are with their family, 65% go to the internet to look for this additional information, using their smartphone as a connection tool. About what is reported by the press, most believe in the information, but there is a distrust about the exaggeration in reporting facts. In the opinion of young people, the main news that appear in their communities concerns issues in the area of public security, with police action and violence, and for 80% of them there would be other everyday situations that could guide the press.
