Oxigenoterapia hiperbárica como adjuvante no tratamento de ferida cirúrgica em canino: relato de caso.

Abstract

As lesões oriundas de traumas na medicina veterinária são muito frequentes, e podem ser intrínsecas ou extrínsecas. A pele é o maior órgão do corpo e a principal barreira contra micro-organismos, sendo essencial sua reparação para a sobrevivência visando evitar infecções. Para reparação, a pele passa por três etapas de cicatrização: fase inflamatória, de granulação e de maturação. A oxigenoterapia hiperbárica é uma modalidade terapêutica que vem ganhando espaço na medicina veterinária, principalmente em lesões isquêmicas, como esmagamento e queimaduras; feridas infectadas, necróticas e complicadas, entre diversas atribuições em que pode atuar de forma eficiente. É uma terapia onde o paciente fica dentro de uma câmara pressurizada fechada hermeticamente respirando oxigênio a 100%. O presente trabalho traz a revisão bibliográfica sobre cicatrização da pele e oxigenoterapia hiperbárica e tem como objetivo relatar o caso de um canino com uma ferida cirúrgica complicada que teve a oxigenoterapia como tratamento adjuvante, com evolução positiva da ferida visto os agravantes do paciente.

Injuries arising from trauma in veterinary medicine are very common, and can be intrinsic or extrinsic. The skin is the largest organ in the body and the main barrier against microorganisms, and its repair is essential for survival in order to avoid infections. For repair, the skin goes through three stages of healing: inflammatory, granulation and maturation stages. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a therapeutic modality that has been gaining ground in veterinary medicine, especially in ischemic injuries, such as crushing and burns; infected, necrotic and complicated wounds, among several assignments in which it can act efficiently. It is a therapy where the patient is inside a hermetically closed pressurized chamber breathing 100% pure oxygen. The present work brings a bibliographic review on skin healing and hyperbaric oxygen therapy and aims to report the case of a canine with a complicated surgical wound that had oxygen therapy as an adjuvant treatment, with positive evolution of the wound due to the patient's aggravating circumstances.
