Calar-se seria uma alternativa sufocante: a banalização do assédio sexual nas universidades

Abstract

O assédio sexual é uma realidade na vida de muitas mulheres. E também é uma realidade dentro de um dos espaços sociais mais prestigiados: a universidade. Medo, angústia e desconforto são sentimentos que perseguem não só as vítimas, mas também as testemunhas, os observadores. ‘’O que fazer?’’ ‘’Como reagir?’’ ‘’Vão me julgar?’’ São perguntas frequentes e que, muitas vezes, persistem na mente dos envolvidos. Esta pesquisa bibliográfica foi realizada com o intuito de compreender a produção científica sobre o assédio sexual na Universidade, a fim de conhecer sua realidade nas universidades nacionais e internacionais, e identificar propostas e experiências de sucesso em lidar com o tema no contexto da Educação Superior. Realizou-se uma revisão sistematizada da produção bibliográfica da última década, nas seguintes bases de dados: CINAHL, APA Psyc Net, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Scielo, NDLTD. Foram encontrados 189 artigos. Retirando-se as duplicatas e aplicados os critérios de exclusão, restaram 110 artigos. Os dados foram então extraídos para uma planilha de Excel, tabulados e analisados. Constatou-se que produção científica sobre assédio sexual nas universidades tem aumentado nos últimos anos, concentrando-se em pesquisas realizadas nos Estados Unidos. A produção nacional existe, mas ainda é pouca. Concluiu-se que a prevalência de assédio sexual nas universidades é alta e a vítima deste tipo de violência geralmente é mulher. É preciso criar espaços em que se possa debater sobre o assunto, sem julgamentos e medos e para isso se faz necessário que as universidades incluam em seus currículos a temática das violências. Os campi devem ser um local em que os estudantes se sintam bem, tendo a certeza de que se algo inoportuno acontecer serão acolhidos e ouvidos e que os autores da violência sexual serão responsabilizados e punidos. Para que isso ocorra devem haver políticas, protocolos e orientações sobre assédio sexual nas universidades.

Sexual harassment is a reality in the lives of many women. And it is also a reality within one of the most prestigious social spaces: the university. Fear, anguish and discomfort are feelings that haunt not only the victims, but also the witnesses, the observers. ''What to do?'' ''How to react?'' ''Are they going to judge me?'' These are frequent questions that often persist in the minds of those involved. This bibliographical research was carried out with the aim of understanding the scientific production on sexual harassment at the university, in order to know its reality in national and international universities, and to identify successful proposals and experiences in dealing with the subject in the context of Higher Education. A systematic review of the bibliographic production of the last decade was carried out, in the following databases: CINAHL, APA Psyc Net, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Scielo, NDLTD. 189 articles were found. Removing the duplicates and applying the exclusion criteria, 110 articles remained. The data were then extracted into an Excel spreadsheet, tabulated and analyzed. It was found that scientific production on sexual harassment at universities has increased in recent years, focusing on research carried out in the United States. National production exists, but it is still low. It was concluded that the prevalence of sexual harassment in universities is high and the victims of violence tend to be women. It is necessary to create spaces where people can talk and debate about the subject, without judgments, without fear, and for this it is necessary that universities include the theme of violence in their professional training curricula. Campuses should be a place where students feel good, knowing that if something inappropriate happens, they will be welcomed and heard and that perpetrators of sexual violence will be held accountable and punished. For this to occur there must be policies, protocols and guidelines on sexual harassment violence in universities.
