Cartografias da cidade de Cuiabá e os cinco sentidos da arquitetura cuiabana

Abstract

Cuiabá pertenceu ao conjunto de vilas fundadas pela Coroa Portuguesa no século XVIII. O seu processo de ocupação e a sua consolidação espacial, desde o princípio, foram guiados por questões econômicas, interesses territoriais e marcas de segregação sócio-espacial. Algumas destas características ainda estão presentes na história da cidade, compondo sua paisagem urbana. A partir de uma leitura urbana sensível, buscamos analisar aqui algumas das marcas culturais do passado, mas, também, do presente, seja pelo patrimônio edificado, pela ruína ou pelas construções de uma era de imagens fabricadas. Caminhando pelas ruas, percebendo seus signos, imagens e imaginários, queremos permitir que os afetos nos atravessem por entre esse território que é tão singular. Sendo assim, com este trabalho, esperamos construir cartografias subjetivas, principalmente, da área do centro histórico, para fazer ver outros sentidos presentes na arquitetura da cidade, através da relação do homem com o lugar, com a memória viva, a experiência urbana e o contato com a sua população corroborando, então, para novas visões múltiplas sobre Cuiabá.

Abstract: Cuiabá belonged to the group of villages founded by the Portuguese Crown in the 18th century. Its occupation process and its spatial consolidation, from the beginning, were guided by economic issues, territorial interests and marks of socio-spatial segregation. Some of these characteristics are still present in the city's history, making up its urban landscape. From a sensitive urban reading, we seek to analyze here some of the cultural marks of the past, but also of the present, whether due to the built heritage, the ruin or the constructions of an era of manufactured images. Walking through the streets, perceiving their signs, images and imagery, we want to allow affections to cross us through this territory that is so unique. Therefore, with this work, we hope to build subjective cartographies, mainly, of the area of the historic center, to make other senses present in the city's architecture to be seen, through the relationship between man and place, with living memory, urban experience and the contact with its population corroborating, then, for new multiple views on Cuiabá.
