dc.description.abstract Insects play important roles in ecological balance, however, studies on insects in biodiverse systems, such as Agroforestry Systems, are still scarce. Agroforestry systems have stood out for their higher level of resilience when compared to conventional models of agricultural production. In this scenario, deepening the knowledge about these productive systems, especially in the entomofauna dynamics, can be another resilient transition strategy, especially with regard to the maintenance of beneficial insects in the system. Therefore, the objective of this work was to monitor the entomofauna in order to evaluate the population fluctuation of insects in the Agroforestry System at UFSC/Curitibanos, as well as to propose management strategies for the maintenance of populations of beneficial insects in three distinct productive arrangements. The Agroforestry System under study has an area of 800m² and is divided into three arrangements: i) SAF – Fruit-Medicinal; ii) SAF – Bracatinga-Agrícolas; iii) SAF – Yerba Mate. Each arrangement has three replications and a control area composed of a fragment of forest succession in medium stage of regeneration. Four types of traps were installed in the study areas (flycatcher, beetles, sticky blue and yellow) with three repetitions in each arrangement. After the establishment of the traps, a total of 10 samples were carried out from May 2019 to January 2020. The specimens were identified at the family level, and the diversity indices were calculated for the different times, arrangements and sampling techniques. A Pearson's correlation test was used to assess the effects of the environmental variables on insect abundance, and the data were submitted to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by the Tukey test (p<0.05). There was greater abundance of insects collected in the spring/summer period. There was no significant difference between the number of harmful insects captured in the different arrangements. The high rainfall surprisingly showed a positive correlation (r = 0.7379) to the number of captured insects. The beetle trap showed the lowest indices of Shannon-Wiener-H Diversity, Simpson-D Dominance and Equitability-J. The different plant arrangements did not differ statistically regarding insect species composition, with a high Jaccard similarity index between arrangements. Finally, due to the high diversity already observed in the arrangements, management strategies aimed at introducing plant species with different flowering times, improving soil organic matter and providing artificial food are important factors to promote the permanence of beneficial insects in the arrangements. en
