Linguagem, voz e identidade: Beckett em diálogo

Abstract

A presente tese parte da leitura de dois textos narrativos de Samuel Beckett escritos após a segunda guerra mundial, L?innommable e Textes pour rien. Dividida em duas partes, a primeira delas concentra-se na análise dos textos selecionados, tendo como foco os conceitos de voz, identidade e linguagem vinculados à própria dissolução da linguagem. Ao final dessa primeira parte, faço um percurso por dois documentos importantes para compreendermos como Beckett analisa teoricamente o que ele mesmo poria em prática em sua escrita: a carta alemã escrita a Axel Kaun em 1937, e os diálogos que Beckett travou com o crítico de arte Georges Duthuit em 1949. A segunda parte inicia-se com a imersão no mundo da filosofia antiga, trazendo ao debate questões como o maravilhamento, as trevas e o pensar. Retomo os conceitos de voz, identidade e linguagem, mantendo o foco na dissolução da linguagem, colocando em diálogo Beckett com os filósofos Martin Heidegger e Fritz Mauthner. Por fim, nas considerações finais, sobrevoo brevemente o que foi abordado nas duas partes tecendo possíveis continuidades da pesquisa.

Abstract: The present doctoral thesis focuses on two narratives written by Samuel Beckett in the post-war period, The Unnamable and Texts for nothing. It is divided into two parts: the first one concentrates in the analysis of the selected texts, giving special attention to the concepts of voice, identity and language, all of them associated with the dissolution of language. At the end of this first part, I take into consideration two important documents in order to better understand how Beckett theoretically analyses what he would put into practice in his own writing procedure: the German letter addressed to Axel Kaun in 1937 and the dialogues with Georges Duthuit in 1949. The second part begins with the immersion in the ancient philosophy, bringing to the debate questions like wonderful, darkness and the thinking. I resume the concepts of voice, identity and language, always focusing in the dissolution of language, putting into dialogue Beckett and the philosophers Martin Heidegger and Fritz Mauthner. Finally, in the conclusion, I briefly overfly all that was considered in the two parts, thinking some possible continuities to the investigation.
