Entre o discurso médico e a percepção de si: Narrativas da violência de gênero em ginecologia

Abstract

Inúmeros relatos e denúncias acerca da violência médica no âmbito da ginecologia surgem a cada dia, e por esse motivo o objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar o processo de construção do discurso biomédico, buscando elementos que justifiquem a atual conjuntura. Como metodologia foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica em fontes históricas secundárias - através de trabalhos que analisam a construção da biomedicina - e fontes primárias do discurso biomédico dos séculos XIX e XX - em obras técnicas e artigos de revistas médicas do período. A busca por narrativas de pacientes denunciando a violência institucional atualmente presente nas consultas médicas voltadas à saúde das mulheres se deu através de relatos pessoais contidos em artigos, veículos de comunicação online e livros. Analisando esse processo histórico, foi possível perceber como a formação do discurso biomédico ainda hoje reflete na atenção à saúde das mulheres, resultando na violência de gênero que expõe o legado de uma medicina patriarcal, racista e hetero-cis-normativa, ao mesmo tempo que expõe múltiplas estratégias de resistência que permitem planejar ações que transformem a prática médica atual, de forma a alcançar uma maior equidade na atenção à saúde da ampla gama de sujeitos atendidos pela ginecologia e, com isso, promover justiça social.

Numerous reports and complaints about medical violence in the scope of gynecology appear every day, and for this reason, this work aims to analyze the construction process of the biomedical discourse, pursuing the elements that justify the current situation. Bibliographic research on secondary historical sources was carried out using works that analyze the construction of biomedicine and primary sources of the biomedical discourse of the 19th and 20th centuries - in technical works and articles from medical journals of the period. The search for patient narratives denouncing the institutional violence currently present in medical consults focused on women's health, happened through personal reports contained in articles, online communication vehicles, and books. Analyzing this historical process, it was possible to observe how the formation of the biomedical discourse still reflecting on women's health care today, resulting in gender violence that exposes the legacy of patriarchal, racist, and hetero-cis-normative medicine. At the same time, it exposes multiple resistance strategies that allow to plan actions that transform current medical practice, to achieve greater equity in health care for the wide range of subjects treated by gynecology and, with this, promote social justice.
