A voz Björk na escuta Cummings

Abstract

Esse trabalho apresenta uma pesquisa híbrida acerca das transformações multidirecionais que acontecem entre a poesia e a música, ou a linguagem escrita e a oral. O ponto norteador de tais questões se baseia na noção do corpo, de onde emerge a voz, como sua extensão, e a escuta ativa. O objeto de investigação é, em primeiro lugar, a obra artística da cantora islandesa Björk, cuja atividade está enraizada na elasticidade da voz enquanto componente experimental e transgressor. Entretanto, são as adaptações que a artista faz de poemas do poeta modernista estadunidense E. E. Cummings que ajudam a elaborar uma reflexão mais profunda acerca da performance vocálica de Björk e da adaptação poética. As propostas de silêncio e de escuta na poesia de Cummings oferecem noções férteis para repensar tanto a obra da cantora, como o caráter transdisciplinar e mutante entre a poesia e a música, além da voz e da escuta. Para realizar tal percurso, o destino de análise será, principalmente, os álbuns de estúdio Vespertine (2001) e Medúlla (2004), de onde advêm as canções \"Sun in my mouth\" \"Mother heroic\" e \"Sonnets/Unrealities XI\", baseadas na poesia de E. E. Cummings. Esse estudo é uma defesa do corpo, da arte e da sensibilidade como elementos indispensáveis para reexaminar a vida em sociedade do mundo atual.

Abstract: This work presents a hybrid research around the multidirectional transformations that happen between poetry and music, or written and oral language. The guiding point of such questions is based on the notion of the body, from where emerges the voice, as its extension, and the active listening. The object of investigation is, firstly, the artistic work of icelandic singer Björk, whose activity is rooted in the elasticity of the voice as an experimental and transgressive component. However, it is the artist's adaptations of poems by the american modernist poet E. E. Cummings that help to elaborate a deeper reflection about Björk's vocal performance and the poetic adaption. The proposals on silence and listening in Cummings' poetry offer fertile notions to rethink both the singer's work, as well as the transdisciplinary and mutant character between poetry and music, and also voice and listening. To accomplish this journey, the destination of analysis will be, mainly, the studio albums Vespertine (2001) and Medúlla (2004), from where the songs \"Sun in my mouth\", \"Mother heroic\" and \"Sonnets/Unrealities XI\", based on the poetry of E. E. Cummings, come. This study is a defense of the body, art and sensitivity as indispensable elements to reexamine life in society in today's world.
