Joana dos Anjos e Lady Macbeth: o poder da voz feminina atribuído ao demônio

Abstract

Esta dissertação faz uma análise dos discursos de Lady Macbeth e de Joana dos Anjos. Investiga como o enunciado confessional de Joana e o discurso da personagem de William Shakespeare estão ancorados e avalizados pela voz mítica do Diabo. Apresenta a história da madre superiora do convento de Ursulinas, em Loudun, e a crítica literária e psicanalítica da personagem shakespeariana. A autobiografia de Joana dos Anjos e a peça teatral Macbeth são o corpus estudado para a análise. O exame dos discursos femininos num contexto hegemonicamente masculino, apresentados neste trabalho, tem como fundamento a proposição de Michel Foucault para a sociedade francesa do século XVII, mesmo período em que o texto dramático foi publicado pela primeira vez. A possessão demoníaca é trazida à baila, como fenômeno místico elitista, averbado pela Igreja Cristã. A análise do discurso das personagens desta pesquisa leva em conta: a teoria do enunciado de Emile Benveniste; o conceito de \"sujeito\" erigido por Foucault e os princípios de análise semiológica da personagem apresentados por Anne Ubersfeld. A pesquisa tem o intuito de apontar os significantes que atribuíram a figura dos demônios ao poder da voz feminina e evidenciar o espírito do tempo deste contexto.

Abstract: The following dissertation analyses the speeches of Lady Macbeth and Jeanne des Anges. It investigates how both Joana's confessional statement and William Shakespeare's character's speech are anchored and endorsed by the mythic voice of the Devil. The story of the Mother Superior of the Loudun convent of Ursuline nuns is presented alongside with the literary and psychoanalytic review of the Shakespearean character. Jeanne des Anges' autobiography in addition to the theatrical play Macbeth are the corpus utilized for the analysis. Feminine speeches analyzed within a context of hegemonic masculinity such as the one presented in this work are grounded on Michel Foucault's proposition for the French society of the 17th century, same period in which the theatrical play here analyzed was published for the first time. The topic of demonic possession is broached and understood as an elitist mystical phenomenon backed by the Christian church. The speech analysis on the characters in this research takes into consideration: Emile Benveniste's Theories of Enunciation, the concept of \"subject\" conceived by Foucault and the principles of semiological character analysis developed by Anne Ubersfeld. This research aims to point out the signs that have attributed the figure of the demons to the feminine voice and highlight Zeitgeist within this context.
