Estilos de aprendizaje a lo largo de la formación profesional en estudiantes de la carrera de enfermería de la Universidad de Magallanes, Chile

Abstract

Abstract : The last two decades have been times of changes generated in the majority of cases for the accelerated technological advances which have left a print in these new generations. The institutions must attend the students? necessities in the learning process, taking decisions that intervene in teaching, in this context to know the methodologies and learning strategies in the formation process, it will be useful and strengthened if we know how students acquire this learning, in term of preference, with a conceptual and methodological approach, understanding that, all of us to learn in a different way, that is to say, with our own learning style. Objective: To identify the preference of the learning styles by the application of the Honey-Alonso questionnaire of Learning Styles (CHAEA) and establishing a relation with the socio demographic variables according to sex and age of the students of nursing of the Magallanes University. Method: A quantitative, descriptive and correlational study was realized, of cross type, through the application of the instrument CHAEA Questionnaire. The period of study was the second semester of 2018. The project was previously approved for the Scientific Committee of Ethics of the Magallanes University conferring the Nª050/CEC/2018 Certificate.186 nursing students participated, registered as a regular student, from First to fifth year, whose ages were between 18 and 45 years. For the analysis of the information, was realized the frequency of distribution, descriptive statistics and interrelationship (Spearman) for the learning styles and data about age and sex, using the program SPSS v 22.0. The learning style with more moderate preference in the nursing students from First to Fifth year was the Reflective Style with an average of 53, 20% according to academic year and years of study, it was followed by Theoretical Style, with the 39%. Meaningful Interrelationships statistics were not found between the study years and learning styles (p > 0,05 ) otherwise, the majority of the survey students have one and two learning style.The average age of the participants was 21 years old (IC95% 21, 62 ? 22, 74), being the 83, 9% women. If we compare the average, according to sex we observe meaningful differences only for the Reflective learning style. In this one, the male sex (M = 15, 87 ± 2, 58) obtain a higher score than women (M = 14, 63 ±3, 12). Final considerations: This study has allowed us to know the diagnosis about the learning styles of nursing students, from the beginning to the end of the career, allowing demonstrate that the students have different ways to learn with more preference in the Reflective and Theoretical Style. As a conclusion our students are more analytical and thoughtful in their way of being, a necessary skill at the moment to take decisions in problems solving, which at the end, will help them to have a good professional performance. Is the work of the teachers, to know those results which will contribute a valuable knowledge at the moment to design methodological strategies based on the learning styles of the students that allow us to optimize the learning process.<br>

As últimas duas décadas foram tempos de mudanças, geradas na maioria pelos acelerados avanços tecnológicos que marcaram essas novas gerações. As instituições devem atender as necessidades dos estudantes no processo de aprendizagem, tomando decisões para intervir no ensino, neste contexto conhecer as metodologias e estratégias de ensino no processo de formação, será útil e fortalecido se soubermos como os estudantes adquirem essa aprendizagem, em termos de preferência, com uma abordagem conceitual e metodológica, entendendo que todos nós aprendemos de maneira diferente, ou seja, cada um com seu próprio estilo de aprendizagem. Objetivo: Identificar a preferência dos estilos de aprendizagem através da aplicação do Questionário (CHAEA) e estabelecer uma relação com as variáveis sóciodemográficas segundo o sexo e a idade dos estudantes de Enfermagem da Universidade de Magallanes. Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo, descritivo e correlacional do tipo transversal, através da aplicação da ferramenta Questionário CHAEA. O período do estudo foi o segundo semestre de 2018. O projeto foi previamente aprovado pelo Comitê Científico de Ética da Universidade de Magallanes, conferindo o certificado Nº050/CEC/2018 em 25 de setembro de 2018. Participaram 186 estudantes de Enfermagem, matriculados como aluno regular, de 1º ao 5º ano, cujas idades variaram entre 18 a 45 anos. Para a análise dos dados, foram realizadas distribuição de frequência, estatísticas descritivas e correlações (Spearman) para os estilos de aprendizagem e as variáveis idade e sexo, utilizando o programa SPSS v 22.0. O estilo de aprendizagem mais moderadamente preferido nos estudantes de Enfermagem do 1º ao 5º ano foi o Reflexivo com uma média de 53,20 % de acordo com o ano letivo e anos de estudo, seguido do Teórico, 39%. Não foram encontradas correlações estatisticamente significativas entre os anos de estudo e os estilos de aprendizagem (p> 0,05), por outro lado, a maioria dos estudantes entrevistados apresentou um e dois estilos de aprendizagem. A idade média dos participantes foi de 21,00 anos (IC95% 21,62 - 22,74), sendo 83,9% do sexo feminino. Quando se compara a média por sexo, diferenças significativas são observadas apenas para o estilo de aprendizagem Reflexivo. Neste, os estudantes do sexo masculino (M = 15,87 ± 2,58) obtiveram pontuações mais altas que as mulheres (M = 14,63 ± 3,12). Considerações Finais: Este estudo nos permitiu conhecer o diagnóstico sobre os estilos de aprendizagem dos estudantes de Enfermagem da Universidade de Magallanes, desde o início até o final do curso, permitindo mostrar que os estudantes possuem diferentes formas de aprender com maior preferência no estilo Reflexivo e Teórico. O que nos diz que nossos estudantes são pessoas mais analíticas e reflexivas em suas ações, habilidade necessária no momento de tomar decisões para resolver problemas, o que finalmente permitirá ter um bom desempenho profissional. É tarefa dos professores conhecer estes resultados que proporcionarão conhecimentos valiosos no momento de desenhar estratégias metodológicas adequadas aos estilos de aprendizagem dos estudantes, que permitem otimizar o processo de aprendizagem.
