Zonas de tangência na Commedia

Abstract

Essa pesquisa evidencia, entre a gama de paratextos existentes, a nota, elemento que produz efeitos sobre o leitor de orientar e, em última instância, comandar a leitura de determinado texto. Para a análise desse elemento, que pulula em várias obras literárias traduzidas, elegemos uma obra da literatura italiana traduzida para o português, mais especificamente, a Divina Comédia, traduzida por José Pedro Xavier Pinheiro e publicada em 1907, pela editora Typographia, do Instituto Profissional Masculino. Abordamos a conveniência desse recurso, a nota, de sua presença na Divina Comédia traduzida, na tentativa de adentrar este espaço, a margem, a nota de Xavier Pinheiro, identificando os resquícios, as singularidades e as particularidades das notas por ele elaboradas. O resultado da análise apontou para um projeto de tradução preocupado em situar o leitor frente à obra de Dante e para um proceder que faz com que possamos associar a figura do tradutor Xavier Pinheiro a um comentador da Commedia.

Abstract : This research evidences, among the range of existing paratexts, the footnotes, element that produces effects on the reader to guide and, ultimately, to command all reading. For the analysis of this element that swarms in several works of translated literature, we have chosen a work of Italian literature translated into Portuguese, more specifically the Divine Comedy, translated by José Pedro Xavier Pinheiro and published in 1907, by the Typographia Men's Professional Institute. We approach the convenience of this resource, the footnote, about its presence in the Divine Comedy translated, in the attempt to enter this space, the margin, the footnote, of José Pedro Xavier Pinheiro, identifying the remnants, singularities and peculiarities of the footnotes elaborated by him. The result of the analysis pointed to a translation project concerned with locating the Brazilian reader in front of Dante's work and for a procedure that allows us to associate the figure of José Pedro Xavier Pinheiro with a Commedia commentator.
