Análise sonográfica da vocalização de Crypturellus obsoletus da região de Florianópolis e arredores - SC

Abstract

A identificação de Crypturellus obsoletus é dificultada pelo denso ambiente florestal onde vive e por seu comportamento arredio. Por outro lado, o estudo da vocalização das aves tem funcionado como importante ferramenta taxonômica. Por isso, a sonografia facilita, além de estudos sistemáticos, estudos populacionais, censos e monitoramentos. Registros sonoros da região de Florianópolis (SC) foram analisados sonograficamente objetivando a busca de elementos estáveis para o reconhecimento dos padrões sonográficos específicos e descrição sonográfica da vocalização da espécie. A sonografia da vocalização complexa de C. obsoletus é caracterizada por duas sílabas diferenciadas pela banda de modulação de suas notas. A frase possui uma escala de frequência ascendente no final da primeira sílaba e início da segunda sílaba, terminando em escala descendente. Já a escala de intensidade apresenta dois padrões diferentes: em frases longas é ascendente em quase toda sua extensão, caindo no final e em frases curtas é ascendente na parte inicial da primeira sílaba ficando descendente a partir da metade da primeira sílaba.

The identification of Crypturellus obsoletus is hampered by the dense forest environment where it lives and by its shy behavior. On the other hand, the study of the vocalization of birds has acted as an important taxonomic tool. Therefore, sonography facilitates, in addition to systematic studies, population studies, censuses and monitoring. Sound recordings from the region of Florianópolis (SC) were analyzed sonographically aiming the search for stable elements for the recognition of specific sonographic patterns and sonographic description of the species' vocalization. The sonography of the complex vocalization of C. obsoletus is characterized by two syllables differentiated by the modulation band of its notes. The phrase has an ascending frequency scale at the end of the first syllable and beginning of the second syllable ending in descending scale. The intensity scale has two different patterns: in long phrases it is ascending almost all its length, falling at the end and in short phrases it is ascending in the initial part of the first syllable becoming descending from the half of the first syllable.
