Ironia e humor no ciclo bíblico de Jacó

Abstract

A presente tese tem por objetivo analisar o ciclo de Jacó, conjunto de narrativas presentes no livro de Gênesis, primeiro da Bíblia Hebraica, partindo de suas características para encontrar os recursos literários que sugerem a ironia e o humor. A história de interpretação religiosa do ciclo de Jacó tem desconsiderado suas possibilidades irônicas e humorísticas, por conta de seu interesse na verdade teológica que pressupõe o pecado e a salvação da humanidade. Alguns autores pesquisados trataram do referido tema nas narrativas sobre Jacó, mas a abordagem, além de superficial, parte aprioristicamente de conceitos gregos ou extemporâneos que não foram utilizados pelos escritores hebreus na construção de suas narrativas. O objetivo desta tese, portanto, é desvelar e utilizar a ironia e o humor como princípio de leitura, respeitando as características das narrativas hebraicas e o contexto no qual estão inseridas. Esse esforço analítico encontrará o ironista por excelência, Iahweh, o Deus mediante o qual os homens se tornam ironicamente risíveis e seus heróis mancos, limitados e rígidos.

Abstract : This thesis has as purpose to analyze the Jacob cycle, a set of narratives in the book of Genesis, the first one of the Hebrew Bible, starting from its characteristics to find the literary resources that suggest the irony and the humor. The history of religious interpretation of Jacob cycle has disregarded its ironic and humorous possibilities because of his interest in theological truth that presupposes sin and the salvation of humanity. Some authors have dealt with the theme of irony and humor in the narratives about Jacob, but the approach, in addition to being superficial, originated a priori from Greek or extemporaneous concepts that were not used by the Hebrew writers in the construction of their narratives. The aim of this thesis, therefore, is to unveil and use irony and humor as a reading principle, respecting the characteristics of Hebrew narratives and the context in which they are inserted. This analytical effort will find the ironist par excellence, Yahweh, the God before whom men become ironically laughable and their lame, limited and rigid heroes.
