Lenta biografía: da possibilidade e necessidade de dar testemunho

Abstract

Lenta biografía, primeiro romance do escritor argentino Sergio Chejfec, é o principal objeto do qual partem e para o qual convergem as ideias trabalhadas nesta dissertação. A pergunta da pesquisa é: O que é relatado em Lenta biografía? A hipótese aqui trabalhada é que em Lenta biografía é narrada a possibilidade e a impossibilidade de dar testemunho de um genocídio das dimensões da Shoá. A partir dessa hipótese levantaram-se interrogantes sobre as origens e o tipo de relato que é lido em Lenta biografía. Desses questionamentos emergiram e foram exploradas duas ideias: (1) a ideia de que o silêncio do pai estaria associado à emergência da escrita e (2) a ideia de pensar Lenta biografía como um relato testemunhal. Durante a pesquisa constatou-se que, para o narrador, o espaço e a atmosfera contêm certa memória, ou seja, possuem indícios do acontecido, assim como do potencialmente acontecido; daquilo que foi e também daquilo que poderia ter sido, mas que não se realizou. Na narrativa estudada, trata-se da memória da Shoá, que se apresenta disseminada na atmosfera, difusa, intermitente, não cronológica e talvez circular. No processo da pesquisa foi evidenciado que o narrador de Lenta biografía faz uso do raciocínio, da imaginação e da lentidão para captar essa memória, narrar e, desse modo, tornar possível seu testemunho, assim como o do seu pai, vítima sobrevivente da Shoá. Ambos testemunhos vitais, possíveis e necessários.

Abstract : Lenta biografía, the first novel written by the Argentinian writer Sergio Chejfec, is the main object where the ideas worked in this dissertation converge. The research question that motivated this study was: what is actually narrated in Lenta biografía? It was hypothesized that in Lenta biografía is narrated the possibility and impossibility of giving testimony about the Shoah. To explore this hypothesis some questions about the origins and type of narrative that we read in Lenta biografía were made. From these questions, two ideas emerged and were explored: (1) the idea that the silence of the narrator´s father, surviving victim of the Shoah, would be associated with the emergence of writing; and (2) the idea of thinking Lenta biografía as a testimonial narrative. During the research it was noticed that, for the narrator, space and atmosphere contain a certain memory, that is to say, they keep traces of what happened, as well as what could have happened, but it didn´t. In Chejfec s first book, this certain memory is the memory of the Shoah, which is disseminated in the atmosphere, diffuse, intermittent, non-chronological and perhaps circular. It was verified that the narrator of Lenta biografía makes use of the reasoning, the imagination and the slowness to capture this memory, to narrate and thus to give his testimony, as well as his father s. Both vital, possible and necessary testimonies.
