Correlações entre alterações fonoaudiológicas, oclusão dentária e hábitos orais deletérios: revisão da literatura

Abstract

INTRODUÇÃO: Os hábitos orais deletérios são caracterizados como padrões de contração muscular de origem complexa e inconsciente. É necessário o conhecimento sobre a intensidade, duração e frequência desses hábitos, por serem prejudiciais ao sistema estomatognático, alterando o seu equilíbrio. Os hábitos orais estão relacionados à alterações oclusais e fonoarticulatórias. OBJETIVO: O objetivo da pesquisa foi fazer uma revisão bibliográfica, procurando estudos que relacionassem os hábitos orais deletérios, as más oclusões dentárias e alterações miofuncionais orofaciais, verificando como esses estudos correlacionam os três temas. METODOLOGIA: A revisão da literatura foi realizada através do levantamento bibliográfico de artigos nos idiomas português e inglês, nas seguintes bases eletrônicas: Scielo Brasil, Lilacs, Medline-Pubmed e Scopus, usando o cruzamento de descritores e palavras chaves. RESULTADOS: De 379 estudos, somente 15 artigos utilizados, encontramos que os hábitos orais deletérios mais relatados foram os hábitos de sucção, sendo que a sucção digital foi citada em 28% dos artigos e a chupeta em 23,3%. Já em relação as alterações oclusais, as mais citadas são a mordida aberta, com 36,4%, seguida pela mordida cruzada posterior, com 22,8%. Entre os aspectos fonoaudiológicos, a alteração miofuncional orofacial mais encontrada foi a interposição lingual com 25%, após a alteração na deglutição e a respiração oral/mista com 18,8% cada. Verificamos que 46,67% dos artigos utilizados correlacionaram os hábitos orais deletérios, as más oclusões e as alterações miofuncionais. CONCLUSÃO: Ao analisarmos na literatura os artigos relatando sobre os hábitos orais deletérios, a oclusão dentária e as alterações fonoaudilógicas, concluímos que são poucos artigos que citam esses três assuntos. Ao verificarmos artigos que correlacionam os hábitos orais com a má oclusão e com a alteração miofuncional orofacial, esse número reduz-se à metade, demonstrando a necessidade de integração entre fonoaudiologia e odontologia em trabalhos e pesquisas, para que no futuro estes aspectos reflitam na literatura nacional e internacional.

INTRODUCTION: The deleterious oral habits are characterized as patterns of muscle contraction complex and unconscious origin. It is necessary to know about the intensity, duration and frequency of these habits, as this is harmful to the stomatognathic system, altering it balance. Oral habits are related to the occlusal and phonoarticulatory changes. OBJECTIVE: The objective was to make a bibliographical review of studies that related the deleterious oral habits, bad dental occlusion and orofacial myofunctional disorders, checking how these studies correlate the three themes. METHODS: A literature review was performed using the literature of articles in Portuguese and English, in the following electronic databases: SciELO Brazil, Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed and Scopus, using the cross descriptors and keywords. RESULTS: About 379 studies, only 15 articles used, we found that the most harmful oral habits were reported sucking habits, and finger sucking was cited by 28% of the articles and the pacifier in 23.3%. Regarding the occlusal alterations, the most cited are open bite, with 36.4%, followed by posterior cross bite, with 22.8%. Among the phonoaudiological aspects, orofacial myofunctional most frequent finding was the tongue thrust with 25%, after swallowing disorders and oral / mixed breathing with 18.8% each. We found that 46.67% of used items correlated harmful oral habits, malocclusion and myofunctional disorders. CONCLUSION: In reviewing the literature articles reporting on the deleterious oral habits, dental occlusion and phonoaudiological changes, we concluded that few articles mentioning these three issues. When investigating articles that correlate oral habits with malocclusion and orofacial myofunctional change, this number is reduced by half. Demonstrating the need for integration between phonoaudiological and dentistry in work and research, so that in future these aspects reflect the national and international literature.
