This paper presents a research of the teams in the first division of Brazilian football in 2012, and aimed to study the marketing strategies used by these clubs from the perspective of the five strategic cornerstones selected for the study, namely, fans, clubs confreres, the Brazilian Football Confederation, sports media and investors/sponsors. Accordingly, we attempted to observe the importance and how the clubs are related to these cornerstones. The research is characterized as a multicase study, whose data collection was conducted through a questionnaire sent to those responsible for the marketing of each club and whose analysis was quantitative and qualitative approach. After quantitative analysis of questionnaire responses, we selected relevant points and drew up a comparative analysis with European football clubs, which are references in sports marketing. As a result, it was found that the fans are considered as the most important cornerstone. On partnerships between clubs confreres, what the sports teams are looking for is mainly the promotion or transfers of athletes and business partnerships. It was also found that there are not many negotiations between the Brazilian Football Confederation and the clubs. In partnership with the sports media, teams seek those that add value to the brand of the club. In the relationship with investors and sponsors, the clubs indicated that the trustworthiness of these is the most important factor in the selection process. |
