A Influência da política na produção jornalística: uma análise sobre a editoria de política do jornal Diário Catarinense

Abstract

Existem vários fatores que influenciam na produção da informação. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a inter-relação entre o campo jornalístico e o campo político na produção informativa - mais especificamente na produção da Editoria de Política (EP) do Diário Catarinense. Foram utilizados três aportes metodológicos: uma observação direta na redação do Diário Catarinense (na Editoria de Política), uma entrevista sobre o processo de produção da notícia com os editores de política e uma análise das matérias publicadas (de forma qualitativa e, em parte, quantitativa). A pesquisa realizou-se em dois períodos distintos: outubro de 2009 (não eleitoral) e agosto de 2010 (pré-eleitoral), visando a verificar se as influências do campo político eram maiores no período pré-eleitoral. Como aportes teóricos utilizam-se os conceitos de campo e habitus e outros conceitos próprios da comunicação política - como agendamento, enquadramento, critérios de noticiabilidade, newsmaking e objetividade. O conceito de campo traduz, de certa forma, a complexidade das relações existentes durante o processo de produção da notícia. Dessa maneira, as influências sobre a produção informativa não são somente externas (como é o caso das influências do campo político), mas também internas ao campo jornalístico. Ligada com essa ideia, a hipótese é a de que a produção da notícia na editoria de política é, sim, influenciada por fatores externos, como o campo político. Porém as características profissionais do campo jornalístico (relacionadas à noção de habitus) exercem uma maior influência na produção da notícia. A partir da comparação entre os períodos verificou-se um aumento na preocupação dos jornalistas do impresso com a objetividade e a neutralidade das matérias durante o segundo período. As tentativas de influência do campo político sobre o jornalístico ocorreram nos dois períodos, mas no período pré-eleitoral, devido ao maior monitoramento da produção da notícia (por possuir uma carga potencial maior de influências do campo político, pelas eleições), a cobertura do impresso busca tornar-se mais "fechada" às influências do campo político. Desse modo, a hipótese inicial do foi de certa forma reforçada: as influências do campo político certamente existem; no entanto, pelo fato de as regras internas do campo jornalístico atuarem enfaticamente na produção da notícia, isso resulta em certo grau de "fechamento do campo jornalístico" àquelas influências.

There are several factors that influence the production of information. This study aims to examine the interrelationship between the journalistic field and the political field in the production of information - more specifically in the production of the Politics Editorial (PE) in the Diário Catarinense. Three methodological approaches were used: direct observation in the writing department of the Diário Catarinense (Politics Editorial), an interview about the news production process with the politics editors and an analysis of articles published (qualitative and partly quantitative). The research was carried out in two distinct periods: October 2009 (non-election period) and August 2010 (pre-election) in order to verify whether the influences of the political field were higher in the pre-election period. Concepts of habitus and field and other concepts inherent to political communication are used in this study as theoretical background - such as scheduling, supervision, criteria of newsworthiness, newsmaking and objectivity. The field concept translates to some extent, the complexity of the relationship during the news production process. Thus, the influences on production are not only external information (such as the influences of the political field), but also internal to the journalistic field. Linked with this idea, the hypothesis is that the news production in the politics editorial is indeed influenced by external factors such as the political field. But all the professional features of the journalistic field (related to the notion of habitus) exert a greater influence on news production. From the comparison between the periods, an increase in the concern of those journalists with objectivity and neutrality of the materials was noticed during the second period. Attempts from the political ground to influence the journalistic field occurred in both periods, but in the pre-election period, due to thorough monitoring of the news production (as the period presents greater possibilities of potential political influences, with the elections being so close), the newspaper coverage tends to become more "closed" to influences from the political field. Thus, the hypothesis of the study was somewhat strengthened: The political field certainly exerts some influence, however, because the internal rules of the journalistic field act boldly in the news production, this results in some degree of "protection of the journalistic field" against those influences.
