Veja o feminismo em páginas (re) viradas (1968-1989)

Abstract

O objetivo dessa dissertação é narrar uma parte da história da emergência dos movimentos feministas no Brasil entre 1968 e 1989, período não só de ditadura política, mas de efervescência no que se refere à mobilização de movimentos sociais. Para isso selecionei como fonte a semanal Veja, fundada em 1968 pela editora Abril. Para efetivação dessa proposta, escolhi para análise: as capas que abordam problemáticas feministas; a seção de entrevistas, denominada Páginas Amarelas, por ter cedido espaço a uma série de feministas e não-feministas; e por último a coluna de humor Millôr, pela frequência com que o jornalista responsável pela coluna, Millôr Fernandes, refletia sobre o tema feminismos. Metodologicamente me aproprio de ferramentas interessantes à história da disciplina análise do discurso, buscando perceber como os discursos veiculados sobre feminismos funcionaram como um instrumento de divulgação do ideário feminista. As seções selecionadas como documentos permitiram a divisão dos capítulos de forma sistemática: no capítulo 1 exploro as capas com o intuito de articular o debate proposto pela revista com o contexto adjacente; no capítulo 2 analiso a seção Páginas Amarelas, espaço reservado a entrevistas com uma série de feministas e celebridades que comentaram os feminismos; e no capítulo 3 reflito sobre a coluna de humor Millôr que entendo ter contribuído para a visibilidade das reivindicações feministas. Com essa proposta busco colaborar para a construção da história dos feminismos no Brasil que, em função do que representou a ditadura civil-militar, teve muitas de suas histórias não-contadas.

The goal of this dissertation is to narrate a part of the story about the feminists' movements emergence in Brazil between 1968 and 1989, a time of not only political dictatorship but also great effervescence regarding social actions. To achieve my objectives, I selected as a source the weekly Veja, founded in 1968 by the publisher Abril, because the magazine devoted a significant space to report about claims and feminist debates that were taking place in the country and the world. In order to refine my research, I analyzed the following magazine's parts: the covers, which addressed women's issues; the interviews section, named as Páginas Amarelas, due to the fact that they always have had a huge impact on the public and also because they gave space to many non-feminists and feminists; and finally, the humor column, Millôr, because of the strong power it has to reach readers' understanding, besides the frequency which the column's journalist, Millôr Fernandes, reflected on feminism. Regarding the method, I incorporate some interesting tools for History that come from discourse analysis, in order to understand how the discourses, conveyed by Veja about feminism, worked as an instrument for the dissemination of feminist ideas in that context. The selected sections as documents allowed the division of chapters in a systematic way. In Chapter One, I explore the covers in order to articulate the debate proposed by the magazine with the historic context, for example, the relation of the publication with a dictatorship scenario and also with the discussion on feminism. In Chapter Two, I investigate the section Páginas Amarelas, reserved for interviews with many feminists and celebrities that showed feminism as an event. Finally, in the Chapter Three, I reflect on the humor column, Millôr, which I understand to have contributed significantly to the visibility of feminist aims. So, with this purpose I seek to collaborate on the construction of feminism's history in Brazil, that accords with what the civil-military dictatorship represented, and held many untold stories.
