Title: Donâ t Fight the Fed: o Federal Reserve, a hegemonia americana e a organização global do capital-imperialismo
Abstract: This thesis investigates the role of the Federal Reserve (Fed) as an instrument for sustaining American hegemony and capital-imperialism in the financialized accumulation regime. The research starts from the following question: how does the Fed, through the management of monetary policy and the dollar, operate as a device for extracting and organizing the global flow of value? The methodology adopted is historical and dialectical materialism, which allows for a journey from abstraction to concreteness: starting from the fundamental categories of the critique of political economy (money, credit, fictitious capital), and advancing to the analysis of the Fed's institutional actions and the historical reconstruction of post-1971 financialization, culminating in the identification of the concrete mechanisms of monetary power. The main results demonstrate that the Fed is not a neutral technical institution, but the operational locus of capital-imperialism. By controlling the dollar (world money), managing interest rates, and regulating the financial system, the Fed operates a \"value pump\" that: organizes international capital flows; regulates capitalist competition; imposes asymmetrical adjustment costs and organizes the extraction of value from global social labor, notably through the draining of public resources destined for debt interest payments under austerity regimes. It concludes that the hegemony of the United States and the dominance of the dollar are expressions of the hegemony of capital-imperialism, and the American-led global order is a manifestation of a financialized accumulation model. Therefore, the hegemonic position of the US depends on its capacity to guarantee, organize, and coordinate financialized capitalism. The research points, however, to the need for empirical verification and systematic case studies to deepen the theoretical formulation presented in this thesis, and suggests future analyses of peripheral financial crises and de-dollarization initiatives. Understanding these mechanisms is a condition for any social transformation project that intends to confront financial domination at its roots.
