This Final Course Project aimed to analyze recent academic production on the transition from Early Childhood Education to the Initial Years of Elementary School developed in the Municipal Education Network of Florianópolis (RMEF). To achieve this objective, the following specific objectives were defined: a) to describe the understanding of the child and childhood in national and municipal documents, establishing a dialogue with the theoretical contributions of authors in the field; b) to highlight the understanding of Early Childhood Education, the Initial Years of Elementary School, and the Curriculum in municipal and national documents; c) to identify research that investigated the theme of transition in the last five years at UFSC and UDESC. Methodologically, a bibliographic and documentary research was conducted, using a qualitative approach with content analysis. The methodological framework was based on the works of Minayo (1994), Severino (2007), Gil (2008), and Bardin (2016). To understand the conceptions of child and childhood present in national and municipal documents, as well as the meaning of curriculum, Early Childhood Education and Initial Years, we engage with the theoretical contributions of Kramer, Nunes and Corsino (2011) and Freitas and Kuhlmann Jr (2002, 1998). The study analyzes four research papers that investigate the theme of transition in the RMEF (Municipal Education Network of Florianópolis), written by Zimmermann (2025), Cardoso (2023), Souto-Maior (2025) and Barcelos (2024), developed in the postgraduate program of the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the State University of Santa Catarina. The research analysis reveals that challenges remain, such as the need for greater coordination between Early Childhood Education and Primary School professionals, attention to documenting pedagogical actions aimed at the transition in the Pedagogical Project Plans (PPPs), the importance of continuing education for teachers in Group 6 and the 1st year of Elementary School, and the need for new guidance materials developed by the Municipal Department of Education (SME). Finally, the study highlights that, although visits between units are relevant, they are not sufficient to guarantee the transition between educational levels.
