| Abstract: |
The following work intends to analyze the movie Kes (1969), directed by the English Ken Loach, based on the methodology for internal analysis proposed by Penafria (2009), and the conception of cinema and cinematic language proposed by Mingliorin (2012) and Xavier (2008), highlighting the democratic character of cinema and its artistic and enunciative capacity. From the movie’s theme, about the life of a working class teenage boy and his relationship with a falcon named Kes, who he trains in his free time between school and work, this text establishes dialogue between the movie analysis and academic research, especially in the field of Critical Sociology studies in Education, so to discuss the unfeasibility of children’s universal rights by the capitalist economic system, and the perspective of school as reproductive of social inequalities, with emphasis to gender subjects and the implication of a patriarchal capitalist ideology on the protagonist's development and construction of subjectivity, in a life marked by working class struggles. In that sense, with the conclusion of this work, it’smanifested the importance of art and cinematic language and the weight of their contributions in research, as in teaching, and criticizes the trivialization of artistic learning, both in Basic and Higher education. It is also shown the obstruction, by the neoliberal and capitalist way of thinking, of the realization of children’s universal rights and non-alienating education, reinforcing the need of knowledge and overcoming of suchcompetitive, segregating and individualistic perspectives in the process of making children’s rights and good quality public education possible. |
