O discurso e a ascensão da Alternative für Deutschland (AfD): a construção do imigrante enquanto inimigo na Alemanha contemporânea

Abstract

A ascensão do populismo de direita na Europa tem sido acompanhada de uma reprodução do discurso anti-imigratório. A Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), partido de extrema direita alemão, se insere dentro deste mesmo contexto. Este trabalho analisa o discurso anti-imigratório da AfD a partir da ótica da Análise de Discurso Crítica (ADC) e teve como objetivo aprofundar a compreensão de como a AfD constrói discursivamente o imigrante enquanto inimigo político e como isso se relaciona com a erosão democrática. Nesse sentido, realizou-se uma revisão teórica acerca do discurso como prática social, que constitui e transforma a sociedade, do discurso populista, que mobiliza a figura de um povo homogêneo e sua representação como forma de legitimação de uma ideologia nativista, e a lógica iliberal, que se produz a partir de contradições inerentes ao modelo democrático mas que ao mesmo tempo ameaça seus princípios liberais. Para a análise do discurso em si, utilizou-se o programa eleitoral da AfD de 2025, discursos parlamentares, falas de campanha e publicações em redes sociais do partido, complementando a análise por meio da perspectiva da operacionalização discursiva da ideologia de Thompson e das teses do discurso reacionário de Hirschman. A análise discursiva concentrou-se em cinco principais eixos: identidade e cultura, segurança, femonacionalismo, bem-estar social e remigração. Os resultados do trabalho indicam que a AfD desloca ressentimentos estruturais para a figura do imigrante, enquadrando-o como causa do descontentamento. À medida que esse discurso nativista se normaliza, tensionam-se também os princípios pluralistas da democracia liberal alemã. Conclui-se, portanto, que a ascensão da AfD e de seu discurso anti-imigratório expressa tanto as limitações do modelo democrático, inserido em um contexto internacional dominado pela lógica neoliberal, quanto uma tentativa de combater o caráter liberal do Estado alemão, reforçando sentimentos de exclusão e intolerância, comprometendo os direitos das minorias, e contribuindo para um cenário cada vez mais polarizado.

The rise of right-wing populism in Europe has been accompanied by a resurgence of anti-immigration rhetoric. The Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), a far-right German party, fits into this same context. This study analyzes the AfD’s anti-immigrant discourse from the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and aimed to deepen the understanding of how the AfD discursively constructs immigrants as political enemies and how this relates to democratic erosion. In this regard, a theoretical review was conducted on discourse as a social practice that constitutes and transforms society; on populist discourse, which mobilizes the figure of a homogeneous “people” and its representation as a means of legitimizing a nativist ideology; and on illiberal logic, which arises from contradictions inherent in the democratic model but simultaneously threatens its liberal principles. For the discourse analysis itself, the AfD’s 2025 electoral platform, parliamentary speeches, campaign statements, and the party’s social media posts were used, complementing the analysis through the lens of Thompson’s discursive operationalization of ideology and Hirschman’s theories of reactionary discourse. The discourse analysis focused on five main themes: identity and culture, security, femonationalism, social welfare, and remigration. The results of this study indicate that the AfD channels structural resentments toward immigrants, framing them as the cause of discontent. As this nativist discourse becomes normalized, the pluralist principles of German liberal democracy are also put under strain. It can therefore be concluded that the rise of the AfD and its anti-immigration discourse reflects both the limitations of the democratic model, embedded in an international context dominated by neoliberal logic, and an attempt to challenge the liberal character of the German state, reinforcing feelings of exclusion and intolerance, undermining the rights of minorities, and contributing to an increasingly polarized landscape.
